2. I suspect it's just plaster spalling....
I think the Swiss managed to avoid the wars of the last century. :D

3. I will also admit that I like being able to work with 14 mp...

If I had it to do over, and had access to Alfredo's knowledge at the time, I would have bought either the canon G10 or G11; less pixels, but some better features. In any case, I like the ability to work with the 14mp and not get some of the distortion I get from the A520, or the Sony DSC-H2, especially on resizing.

4. Nope. That's not what they look like.
I was a child growing up with WW II bullet holes in the buildings on my path to school, and the occasional grenade on the ground.

A powerful memory that makes me pray for ending the horror and backward futility of waging war.

5. I got carried away about the bullet holes. Starting over...
I love this image a lot.
It makes me wonder and think about the window that is bricked up... and about all the places a lot like that that I have seen.
It's a wonderful shot.

6. I got the impression that that was more of an addition, adding another level
to the house, but you're right, it could be a bricked up window.
