Wolves in Hayden Valley, Yellowstone NP
Ok, here's my first post...The pictures were taken on Aug 28th about 6am with a LOT of morning fog. The wolves were about 175-225yds away and they were the highlight of the trip, and that's saying something because we had a fantastic trip!

The best part about the wolf pictures is we were only at this overlook about 15 minutes before they came loping out of the fog...incredibly lucky to see them so close.

1. If you love wolves,
you'll be sad to read this: http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/aviation/story/976121.html

Gordon Haber was the best friend Alaska's wolves ever had.

2. They are eerily beautiful and give me chills. This is what wild really means to me.
A very lucky catch for you to take these shots. I wondered from where your vantage point was, but looked and saw you said you were on an overlook.
Thank you, Yellowstone is one of my favorite travel memories, and I believe it when you say it was fabulous.
America is so very beautiful, with so incredibly many glorious sights.
Come back often, and welcome.

4. This is where we were standing
Just minutes before the wolves showed up. They are probably in this picture somewhere but too small to see. The wolves walked up to the small spit of land sticking out into the river in the gap in the trees directly ahead.

3. Thumbs up!
Just for being in Yellowstone and getting a pic of the wolves. They were just getting established when I was there.

I remember the Hayden Valley well. A sighting of a grizzly bear created a traffic jam.

You only have to get about 100yards or so off on the trails and the place is absolute paradise. Is Norris geyser basin open now? Loved that!

Anyway, I think your pictures are very cool. I went in the pre-digital age........

5. Norris IS open
Here is a small sample! Norris, more than any other basin, reminded us of another world.
