1. Good grief, huge
They sure make for good photos!!

Do they do anything so birds don't fly into them? Well hopefully they aren't in any migration pattern.

2. Don't you think it is weird that the first
thing people say about wind power is.... "but the birds!"

do you think of the birds killed by coal use? or power lines? or burning oil?

cause, that was the first thing I thought too, but then I thought more

7. Actually, they did have a problem with goats.
Not sure if it was around Ellensburg or somewhere else, but the goat population started dying off. They discovered that the sound of the windmills was disturbing their sleep pattern at night. Eventually they had to pay to relocate the goats.

6. And BTW
fantastic shots. Adding the human scale really accentuates the grandeur of these things.

I really need to get a camera to bring with me on these ATV runs. Wish there was some way to convey the fear of standing directly underneath it while the fan blade comes at you with this horrendous "whoosh"!

9. Hope those are Vestas windmills! :)
The recently had to lay off a lot of people, but in general they have been a succes story.
Green knowledge based industry.

Though they had one some time ago where the brakes malfuntioned in very windy weather - with a spectacular result:

So be careful. :)
