The sculptured rock scenery at The Arches - as promised - with lots of photos
There are over 2000 arches, new ones still form and old ones collapse.
Arches National Park, Utah, sits high atop the mountains, has a campground and many hiking trails. Many of them difficult.

You enter the park at the foot of the mountain and then snake up for 18 miles.

You are in a magic land, incongruous, as in that you can see the altogether different looking mountains of Colorado in the background,
and if you look closely, you can already see Arches in the Limestone mountains.

A couple of landscape shots with faces in the stones, if you care to find them, it's not usually my thing
but some of these are just blatant.

On to some arches now, the first one is "delicate arch", billed as the world's most famous one.
I could unfortunately not get closer, I would have but I was not alone in my party

Some of the arches are accessible through trails that on one, I had to turn back. It was too dangerous.
At that time I was by myself, and had something happened to me, my family would have been upset.

So here I got to show you another place in America the Beautiful. I highly recommend you make the effort to see it.
As I had the opportunity I said: "If not now, WHEN?"
and that is how I got to go.

No matter what Maestro might call it, I chose to believe this was an Eagle seeing me off from The Arches.

1. These are wonderful. The best is next to last. I see two seals nuzzling and the little girl...
is saying 'Look!'
Great pix.

2. Stunningly beautiful and aw-Inspiring.
I love the way you caught the tree and arch in 11 (I think I counted right). It is my favorite because of the composition though they are all very very good.

3. These are wonderful, Mira.
What a strange and beautiful place, and so unlike anything we have here. Isn't it amazing the diversity on this planet?

4. I try to avoid too much intertubes shorthand
but "OMG" really says it best.

And CC has it right about that shot with the tree and the arch. It's very powerful.

This is another great series from your travels.

More!

5. Thanks. And thanks especially for the "more" because I have them, and I don't
want to feel like a Photo Forum hog for having had this incredible multitudinous experience of many places.....
actually I have quite a few more.
And they are all on the National Register.
And they were all wondrous.

So as long as I hear "more" they are available, and I will prepare for the next one.
It will be:
Indian residences carved into the mountains. Incredible images from more than one place.

6. Look forward to seeing them.
And don't ever feel like you're hogging the forum. No such thing. Seeing others' stuff is the thrill here. The more the better.

7. Great!!
Loved the arches, can't wait for the mountail (cliff) dwellers. I had film when I went to Arizona a few years ago, meaning, sadly, not all that many pictures. So I look forward to seeing these. I'm sort of a nut for everything ancient and Native American. Have no fear, when I go to some mounds around here, you guys will be seeing the pictures! I already have a few mound pictures, but when I get some more at some point, yep, I'll post them.

9. My son and I are standing here sloshing coffee and sniffling and saying things
like: Oh My God, that is so effing cool. We are howling. "I'm lovin' it", which is McDonald's slogan.

10. Wow, an amazing place
It's great having the people in the frame to get an idea how big these are. Good job.
