A friend w/a small shop has asked for some of my pix on consignment and I have questions! Help!
How would I best 'package' them and not spend a fortune doing it since they may not sell?

The sites someone KINDLY (THANK YOU!) mentioned below (the thread about frames/matting, etc.) are helpful.

What size would you all suggest? I'm thinking 8x10.

Would it be cheesy to do the matting board, foam back and clear bag?

Thanks for your suggestions in advance!

Curt

1. Would you mind describing the ambiance (look/merchandise/dollar scale) of
the shop? To whom do they usually sell.
That's exciting, and has potential if you tailor them together.

After that I'll give it thought.

2. My friend Jeannie is a massage therapist
so I think it will tend to the wholistic/feminist/touchy-feely/earth mother sort of thing. I need to talk to her to see what she is selling and what would best fit in.

Thanks for asking that! More details later...

3. In that case, just for now, you may consider wall space.

I'm thinking mostly women will be in there. They look around during their massages, and while they wait. If you could get a wall, on which you could arrange photos, (8x10 is too small for my taste / 11 1/2 x 14 or even larger, with good white space around it for the signature and title and maybe the edition numbering) maybe in the acrylic frames, and change some of them out monthly, then you could get interest going about what's new etc.
I would have a uniform price for all photos, framed and unframed, and the price is not negotiable.
You could have a signup sheet where people vote for their favorite, and feature the favorites in a special way. You could have a glass bowl where they put in their business cards or name slips and draw a winner once a month. Which could be that month's favorite by vote.

You could therefore help your friend decorate gorgeously for free, and get your art into the public eye.
You could have an introductory special price that lasts 3 months, have a nice little sign made with your photo on it, a little bio, and what you want to achieve by getting your photography out into the lives of people, or some philosophy of yours.

I shut up now, these are just some thoughts....
I do this sort of thinking for my customers all the time, so it rolls off easy.
