Ok I was wrong (warning - some not so happy nature pics follow...)
Gators do eat turtles...

this is not going to end well.

Pictures reflect what happened over about a 10 minute period of time. I was out with the camera taking picture of this rather LARGE gator that was hanging aroung in the water just a few feet out of my back yard. Next thing i know there was this large thrash in the water and the gator had a rather sizable turtle in it mouth. It headed on down the bank to the neighbors yard and the rest is history. I spared you the other 100 or so pics - including the one that coincided with this big crunch - when you knew - well - that was that...

3. yep
the Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM that I was not at all sure about when I bought it. Its a keeper now :-)

4. There is a fenced area for the dogs
the rest of us are on our own. I suspect when little Miss Sarah's parents see these - she won't be hangin out with grampa in the back yard for awhile...

actually seeing this to comment on the photography and it's incredibly in my face crisp depiction of this event.
