Photo #18 with my new Christmas present
to myself. I bought a Canon 50D. This is shot with an 85mm f/1.8 lens at f/2.0.

My boss asked me if I had any B&W photos he could use in his new office. I showed him what I have and he picked a couple that he liked. I decided to shoot one for him rather to give him one which would not really mean anything to him other than liking the image. I asked his sons (who are all basketball players) to come by and pose for this shot. This is the result after processing.

2. Did he go nuts over this?
Honestly, what a great idea!! Nice of the kids to drop by, too. My analytical mind is trying to figure out how everyone is standing, etc. Love it. How big is it going to be?

4. He hasn't seen it yet
His wife got a bit emotional. Their oldest is a senior this year. This will be printed 24x30 including the 2" white border.

5. That's just an astonishingly good idea ... and wonderfully executed. Wow.
Color me impressed. :wow: (A parent would have to go weak-kneed at that.)

7. The 50D is nice, isn't it?
I like the way you can see and change all the settings on the LED screen. It really helps when you have "old eyes" like I do.

This is a beautiful shot, very creative and personal.

12. So far so good..
coming off of a 350D the LCD looks like a drive in theater.. I especially like the larger file size which is great for large prints and allows so many cropping options. There is a bit of a learning curve but it is very user friendly. And yes,my eyes were better in my younger days, the large LCD and the multi-controller make adjustments quick and easy. For some reason I have forgotten to meter several times (I shoot mainly in manual mode), I never forgot on my Rebel. I think the view finder is larger?

Anyway, thank you Blue and great to see you. I hope all is well with you and yours this new year!

8. What a wonderful idea
to give him a print with meaning. Can certainly understand why the mom got teared up.

14. Thank you
I have been on sot of a 'hand study' kick lately. I am working on a giant mosaic with a hand theme for our restaurant dining room.
