Autumn 08 pics - I took this weekend
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 08:26 PM by superconnected
I usually try to grab autumn. Heres the pics from Saturday which for me mean Autumn this year. I work a lot so its hard to get out. These were taken in WA around Stevens Pass on a photo excursion with regnadkcin who posts here. I haven't been here in about 3 years even though I'm on Latest Breaking New on DU all the time.

1. Mine from the same trip...
From the town of Index, on the west side of the mountains:

Along Nason Creek in Tumwater Canyon (east side of Stevens Pass):

Just north of Leavenworth (and, yes, I was using a polarizer -- how did you guess? ;-) ):

In Leavenworth itself, we stopped to get someone's goat*:

And, of course, I had to grab a shot of Water (artificially) Falling Over Things (and people) at a local "putting course" (upscale mini-golf):

Finally, Easton Ponds just after sunset:

*(Yes, I know superconnected already put up a goat photo. But there's no way I'm going to pass up a chance at that pun. ;-) )

4. The important pics are of course of the goat.

Good pics Regnad. Your camera quality really comes out there. You also have a much more unique eye. I didn't get pics at angles like you got at all. I don't think I focused on any close up foilage, for me it was wides this time.

3. Beautiful shots from both of you.
If I can't get a day off real soon, I'm going to miss the season entirely.

6. Very nice.
Thanks, you guys, for an extended autumn. We seem to be well into winter here already. We had a strong wind about 10 days ago that ripped the remaining leaves off the trees, and we've already had over 10 inches of snow here in Anchorage, temperatures are predicted in the teens later this week. ... But summer was such a bust this year, I'm almost looking forward to lots and lots of snow.

I hope you're getting lots of winter pics. Our weather right now is rainy blah. Not snow, not autumn, just blah.

9. I am always amazed
at how similar Washington State looks to Southern Germany. Our color has been stunning this year.

Thanks for sharing, and I love the goat! :hi:

10. It might amuse/appal you to know...

...that the goat was photographed in Leavenworth, a small town on the east slopes of the Cascades that has turned into a tourism mecca by transforming itself into a "replica Bavarian village" (i.e. tourist trap with faux-Alpine decor, ersatz German business names like "Das Central Hotel" and lots of people walking around in lederhosen who have no business walking around in lederhosen).
