Home with a taste of Maui.
I am home and happy to see my zoo crew but did not want to leave Maui. Tons of photos to get off the laptop (I ran out of room on it. lol) and sort through. Here is a taste though of a beautiful place that the rich are in the process of ruining according to the locals.

Along Rt 30 (I think)

Blow hole along same Rt.

Shooting into the sun along the same Rt.

A taste of the Road to Hana. If I ever get to go back I want to spend a week in Hana.

3. If I could re-do my 3.5 years out there as an enlisted guy
I'd spend so much more time on the other islands, rather than stay on Oahu.

Dammit. :kick: x(

4. I love Maui, the road to Hana is spectacular.
The only road scarier to drive for me was the one on the way to Positano on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. I think I swam in that swimming hole. It's just gorgeous. Maui is where I first fell in love with silverswords and protea. Welcome home, I don't know how you left, its such paradise.

6. The Road to Hana was beautiful but we
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 10:43 PM by CC
were on a scarier road when we did the drive around the small part of the island. Think Road to Hana but steeper drops, less vegetation and only one lane. Had to back up to a small pull off if someone else was heading the other way.
And loved loved loved the Silversword. Had to yell at someone to get back on the path and not kill its roots.

Edited to add on more Ahinahina pic.

A tip, if you are too lazy/disorganized like me take pictures of sings near what you are photographing. Helps the memory later.

7. I do have some bird photos but have to find
which of the disks they landed on. Nothing rare and spectacular though. Terry have some eating out of his hand. It is a beautiful place but afraid it might be ruined sooner than later with development and hotels. They are saying there won't be any sugar cane or pineapples farmed in Hawaii in 6 years. Cheaper to grow in other countries. Lots of land will be up for grabs for developers then.

8. Unfortunately Hawaii has some of the most
endangered native birds and quite a few are probably going to go extinct in the wild. I hope you find your bird photos soon and post them. :)
