Have you ever had an auto-focus lens just jam on you?

My 50mm 1.4 is stuck, won't auto-focus, the full-time manual won't move it either. It's still under warranty, but it seems odd that it would do this..


Any thoughts before I send it in for repair?

2. A rather unfortunate drop caused this for one of my lenses.

So the dilemma: brute force to make it turn or spend money. Well, a constrained version of brute force got nowhere, so off to the shop. The tech warned the repair might take a while if a parts order was needed, but it was apparently a rather simple repair - no extra time or money above the minimum - so I would expect good results. Turn around time will be a good test of the manufacturer's desire to back up their stuff, but at least in my case the only time involved was just the length of the queue plus maybe a half hour at most.
