I'm back ... what'd I miss?
I took some really fun pictures in California. San Francisco, Bolinas, the boat PT. REYES in Inverness (for whoever it was that posted that picture earlier ... the boat is still there), Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Santa Barbara, Solvang, Santa Monica, Venice Beach and multiple scenic pullouts in between. Any requests? Sunsets? Crashing waves? Trippy people in Venice Beach? Architecture? You name it, I've got it.

1. What did you miss?
Only a little thing called the April photo contest! You came in 2nd, far behind the run-away leader, ConsAreLiars. Check it out: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x3163609

Now we're talking about May themes and other ways to have the contest with "blind" voting so that there isn't any temptation to vote for something that's a front running photo over something you might like better.

I can't wait to see your trip photos. I'm so glad you're back, Blue_In_AK. There's a lot of testosterone in this group sometimes.

(I'm kidding, Guys!)

2. Wow...
Thanks, guys, for the second-place finish. I thought so many of the photos were better than what I submitted, so I'm really flattered. The winner was absolutely beautiful.

Here's a picture I took of the full moonrise over Bolinas Lagoon with the lights of San Francisco in the background. I had to adjust the color a bit with my photo program -- this was the first night photography I had attempted -- but I'm pretty happy with the result.

Very nice for a "first attempt".

I'm a Night Stalker myself. If you ever want to pursue it further.. here are some very good links with tips, suggestions, & stuff:

5. Thanks for the links
I'm definitely a novice at this and just got lucky basically on these shots. The originals had quite a bit of orange cast to them and were too bright, but I really was just guessing on the settings and knew that the photo program would fix them up just fine. I have a couple of other ones I took that night, but this one was my favorite.

4. WOW! That's STUNNING!
:wow: It beautifully captures a Bay Area "mood" that's part of what I absolutely adored about living that area. If I'd ever taken a photo like that, it'd be proudly framed and displayed in the most prominent place in my home.

6. Thanks, Tahiti Nut
I like the Bay Area mood, too. I took a zillion shots around there. Bolinas was kind of a nostalgia trip for me. I used to live there from 1970 to 1974 back in my hippie days and was happy to see that it really hasn't changed much in the intervening years. It was also cool that I was able to track down three old friends who are still living there after all these years. I really love that place.

7. Oops, sorry, I messed up my link.
Here it is again, maybe a little smaller this time.

Never mind - it seems to be an issue with PhotoBucket.
