Official DU Photo Group Snaparoo 2007
When: June 14-19, 2007
Where: Denver, Colorado (and points to and from)
Official “The Gangs All Here” Days: June 16-17, 2007
Activities: TBD

Why Colorado? Well, because I’m the idiot that came up with this so I figured that I should locate it somewhere that I’m familiar with. It’s also “central” to most people and it was the place most mentioned in the initial thread. Besides, I think I speak for everyone when I say I’m terribly excited about seeing Robb’s desk. :P

Please PM me as soon as you can if you plan on being here (and how long you will be here) so I can start putting this thing all together.

June 16-17 will be the “official” Group days that hopefully we can all get together. The other days will be for those that stay longer and want to do other things. I plan on being “free” most of the time for those that want to do other stuff. You don’t need to plan on being here the whole time, just at least the 16th and 17th.

I’m working on a bunch of kewl stuff but before I finalize everything I really need to know how many people would be coming out so the quicker you PM me the quicker I can get everything set. FYI: None of the activities I’m thinking of will be physically demanding. The idea here is to have a good time, maybe learn a thing or three, and snap a few pics. Not drop dead after hiking up some mountain.

If you don’t have a “fancy” camera no worries. This isn’t about that. Besides, most of my crap will be available for use. I’ll just use disposable cameras the whole time. :D

2. Wow, I don't know, F. Gordon
I just heard from ITF yesterday that she and UTBS are planning a trip to Alaska next summer, and my guess it would be right around this time from what we discussed when I was down south. I'll have to get back to you on this one - although I have to say I'd enjoy seeing Colorado again. I haven't been there since I was a kid except for a brief stay in Fort Collins when my daughter was graduating from college.

3. The mountain I dragged you up wasn't THAT big....
I expect I'll have to pass - I am pretty sure I am traveling the following three weekends (a week later and I might have been able to extend a Nebraska trip). If I find out otherwise I'll let you know. Sounds like great fun!

4. That's Father's Day weekend.

You could have the disappointment of children across the country on your conscience!

On the other hand, if you chose, say... early August 2007, I'd be living back in Colorado and it wouldn't interupt my vacation to Alaska. Because you wouldn't want to have my missed vacation on your conscience, either, would you. WOULD YOU?!?!?

:silly:

5. Well I'll figure out a way
to make it no matter when. My biggest problem is a zoo crew keeper. But looking at others, would August be out of the question for you? I know it can be a pain in the a** organizing and making time. But if ITF might be in AK in June, the only good month for AK as far as I can search and others have a problem, maybe August could work? I can drop in on relatives regardless, even that football player's parents with out threatening with the player. I could probably get them to offer a day of fun for all too since they have a lake and boat in the back yard. I am in a just let me know when as long as I am here July 7 for the step daughters wedding.

6. I'm going to try and make it...
It depends on whether paisely can get leave for the days around that weekend. She's put in for it, so we can only wait and see. It would be great to be a part of this!

7. That'd be great
I figured with my little Fathers Day Screwup :dunce: that it kinda' fell apart and interest has been a little "weak" at best to date so I've sorta' let this thread sink off. But if we can get just a couple (or dozen) more I think (nay, I KNOW) it'll be a good time.

And what better place to spend Fathers Day... but beautiful Colorado!!!

More later.....

9. Is there any interest in doing this in September?
Late September or early October. Miss the heat of the summer and with luck have some fall color. This far in advance, I can pretty much manage any time, so let the people with tight schedules determine exactly when but since June seems to be a problem, why not consider fall?

10. Fall Color in the Mountains lasts about 3 1/2 hours
:P And I missed it again this year. :-( It does stay around down on the Front Range for awhile.... in Denver and such. This year we had 3 snow storms in October that kinda' "stripped" the Fall Color in the Denver area. That's the "problem" with October. September, I guess, would be good.

The weather in Colorado mid June is pretty damn nice. We can have a few hot days but generally it's very comfortable at that point and the nights are cool. Mountain Wildflowers and Gardens are blooming, the mountain peaks are still snow capped. Mud Season is pretty much over. July and August... much hotter.

I'm afraid if I change the date it will just become confusin' and such. I have a couple of "things" I'm trying to coordinate along with this so I'll just keep the bucket I pissed in. I think that June will still work. We'll see. There are quite a few people trying to work in this date and make it work. I just think it's best to lock something like this in and stick with it.
