100 year old family photos -- editing welcomed!
Here are a couple of photos that I recently had touched up a bit and scanned in.

My grandmother's family, circa 1908 (maybe as early as 1905). She's the youngest girl with the single bow in her hair. She was born in 1897.

My grandfather's family, circal 1895 (maybe as early as 1890). He's the guy sort of standing in the back (he's actually semi-sitting on a table). He was born in 1875. That's right, my grandparents were 22 years apart in age. My grandfather was 49 and my grandmother was 27 when my dad was born.

Both families were from southern Germany. My grandmother's family were "dark Germans" and my grandfather's family were German Jews. My grandfather was a professional boxer at the time this photo was taken. He went on to found one of the first unions in St. Louis. One of his uncles was chief gardener to the first Kaiser of Germany.

Unfortunately, BOTH my grandparents died 15 years before I was born. My grandmother died first of diabetes complications, then the following year, my grandfather died of lung cancer from asbestos poisoning (from all those years of working in the union as a pipefitter/pipe coverer).

Any comments or if you want to play with them and spruce them up, are appreciated!

1. These are fascinating
And the biographical information makes them even better. I wouldn't presume to edit them myself, but you might try to go for a pseudo-hand-tinted version of each (something that would have been appropriate to the period).

2. You are so lucky to have
these and thank you for sharing them and the history. I so hate seeing people's old family photos for sale in flea markets and other places. How anyone can just let them go is beyond me. And I have seen lots in bins for sale.

3. Wow! Neat.
I am also fortunate to have a good collection of old family photos. Treasure these.
