1. He posted a message a few days ago...

...in which it sure sounded like he was saying goodbye. I wrote a reply, asking him what was going on, and never heard anything in return.

I seem to recall he's had some unspecified major health problem recently. I hope this has nothing to do with that.

It didn't seem health related. It sounded like he was leaving becase he was P.O.'d over the Google ads. If so, that would be shame since members can block them now. :(

It seemed like the Google ads pissed him off. I PM'ed him and told him he could turn them off now, but I haven't heard a word back. I do hope he's okay.

On Edit: The "popular photo" thing has a shopping cart in it that I can't figure out how to remove and I don't want to go through that again. :eyes: If someone can figure it out... go for it. I'll have to ask someone at smugmug how to fix this. Until then I removed it from the home page.

Don't forget to remove your lens cap, insert the flash card, charge the batteries and may all your photographs be wonderful.

That was posted on May 25th. Nothing since then. Although he does express some irritation with the ads, that doesn't seem to be the only thing that caused his departure. And it sure sounds like he was planning to be away for some time.

8. My hope is also that he will show up again, but

my main hope is that he continues to enjoy life and contribute, as he has here. I believe he got some value from participating in this forum, and I know he gave us all a great deal and I thank him. DU, even the photo forum, is only a small bit of the world, and if he has chosen to spend some time elsewhere, then our loss will be the gain of others who are able to share in his wit and insight.
