Light kits
I need to buy a light kit to take these photos of the interior of an old mill house. Plus, I have been wanting one to do more portrait photography as well. Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive light kit? I've been looking at all the photography equipment sites, and am just overwhelmed with all the choices.

Novatron lights that I really like. The kit came with two flash heads, stands, umbrellas, cords etc in a hard carrying case. Also have a third novatron light with stand that was thrown in by the store. I like the way the bulbs are protected with glass since I have used White Lightnings and seen stuff fall and burst their bulbs (at about $80.00 a bulb makes a big difference.) Its a great portable starter kit and ran about $900.00 new. I know there are brands considered "better" but I have been really happy with these. Edited to add link to Novatron http://www.novatron.com/ns/onlinecatalog.php and also suggestion, check ebay for light kits. Many people get them then lose interest and sell them on ebay.

I used them on this set of pictures

and these were also using the lit kits.

You might also want to look into small slave flashes. They can be triggered by your flash or a strobe light. In reading they seem to use them a lot for interior shots. They are small, hide well and can be placed in dark corners or behind thing that would block lights. Example here http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home;jsessionid=GRTlQjnbQG!-1254603970?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=89986&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
