Finally took a few minutes and headed out
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 12:37 AM by CC
to the grocery store. And this is what I saw on the way there. Course it took me longer to get there than to shop and go through the register.

First a bluebird swooping around. Surprised I got stopped and the camera out fast enough to catch any of it.

The bluebird led me to the goose.

Which led to a pair of geese.

That did not like me being in their space so took off for a swim.

Then I looked up.

Finally got in the car again and headed toward town only to see this old church

Pulled in the parking lot for the first time ever. Been by the church a lot.

Only to realize they have horse parking too.

Going to have to go check on the geese more often, there were two pairs and one single. Will have to watch for goslings .

Not sure I have any juxtaposition but the pair of geese would be making connections. Wouldn't it? I am going on lack of sleep and starting to hear hammering in my dreams.

Edited to add, but I do have windows now. :bounce: and can see what finished will look like.

1. Good Pics!
The basketball in the horse stalls is an interesting juxtaposition.

2. Thank you, I thought it might
but wasn't sure. I did not place, touch or move that basket ball though, it was already there.:) I couldn't get the portable hoop in any of the shots that allowed it to show. Next time I remember to throw the tripod in the car too.

3. Actually,

I think it would be even more interesting juxtaposition if the basketball were by the manger and the concrete cropped out of the picture, but it works well "as is".
I like the contrast of the colored basketball vs the earth tones.
The manger (old) vs the ball (new).
The "organic" nature of the straw and wood vs. the "manufactured plastic (well, rubber) nature of the ball.
The perfect round vs. the lines of the barn and the chaos of the straw.

I like the picture. :)

It also sounds like you had a good day.
I love Canadian Geese, though acknowlege that in some places, they can be a nuisance.
I found them to be intelligent, and have a large vocabulary.
They mate "for life", and both parents share responsibility in raising the young.
I lived on a houseboat for a couple of years, and a pair (Romeo & Juliet) shared the Winter with me.

They eventually ate from my hand, and let me touch them.
They visited daily, and then disappeared for a couple of weeks in the spring.
When they returned, they had 5 chicks with them.

4. I was trying very hard to not disturb
anything since it was posted and all. They must of had trouble at one point what with all the no trespassing and no dumping signs around.
Still miss the houseboat? And isn't time for some Hooping bug pictures with the new camera?

I know geese can be a problem but somehow they keep it at about 6 where I was at.And seems they live there year round. Its a very small pond and all woods that are protected. I figure if I keep checking there should be some babies sooner than later.

6. Yes, still miss the boats....
..but Urban Apartment Living is almost at an end. A new Grand Adventure is in the works.
I drove to Iowa and picked this up yesterday. :D

We plan to spend a couple of months remodeling it, put on a distinctive paint job, pack up the Kittys, and head South to the NW corner of Arkansas/Missouri. Rural land with serviceable buildings are available at a bargain. The area is beautiful, and the climate wonderful.

I'm touched that you remember Bug and his travails in an apartment (I do project)
Apartment life has turned him into a curmudgeon.

Bug,.... say "HI" to CC....be NICE...say "HI"......Come on,...say "HI"...Please say "HI"....

Oh well. He gets cranky if he doesn't get his nap.

I'm still learning the new camera, but it is coming along. Some new "Hooping" pictures are in the works.
I was distraught that buying a new camera didn't automaticly make me an expert photographer. If anything, I have to work harder because there is so much more that I can do wrong!
:dunce:

7. No one warned you that it is all
in the eye of the photographer, not that camera? Though a good camera does help. The biggest trick to learning the camera is to just relax and use it. At least with digital you aren't wasting money if you just take shots and play with different settings. Still have a couple weeks until mine gets here.
Of course I remember bug, he is the only cat I know of that hoops and well can't forget the title Hooping Bug since it made me look. I hope he like to ride since it looks like he is going to become a road warrior cat. I was tempted to try teaching the ferrets to hoop, my cats are hopelessly lazy and spoiled. Never did teach the ferrets, was hard enough to get stand up and roll over in their vocabulary.

For anyone that might not of seen the HOOPING Bug I went and found the ***Rare Pictures***Minnesota HOOPING Bugs****thread. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=243&topic_id=6017

5. There's nothing I like better
than the sound of the Canadian geese coming back here in the spring. We get zillions of them. Lots of them just kind of hang around in town in the big grassy parks and make a poopy mess, but I love 'em anyway. It's still a little early for them here - I expect they'll be showing up within the next couple of weeks.

8. You know it is strange because in
the spring I know the geese fly over but not near the numbers and sound as in the fall. There is a farm here that gets lots of snow geese every fall but only in the fall. It seems to be the migration way station.
Spring is starting to really settle in, saw my first hummingbird today so got to work making up nectar and getting the feeders ready. I would almost swear he was at the window telling me to get to it already.

9. There is nothing I like better
than photos that tell a story! :)

I hope when I get my church it has horse parking. That'll come in handy when the oil and gas reserves dry up.

I also hope that hawk isn't thinking about the goslings as well... as in, his dinner! :scared:

10. Well if you end up with a church
near here you odds of having horse parking goes up, though why a church would have it is beyond me. Yes there are lots of Amish around but they don't use the churches. And you will have a church before you know it. My bank has horse and buggy only parking spaces too. I've gotten to where I tend to forget that isn't the norm. The picture I missed because I didn't have my camera, horse and buggy in the McDonald's drive thru.

12. We're starting to see Trumpeter Swans in Missouri and
there's an eagle's nest in a tree near a creek where I used to live in St. Charles Co.
