Fun with Photoshop: Collages
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 10:41 AM by intheflow
Ever since I first got Photoshop some seven years ago, I've been playing with collages of my photographs. This is the first one I ever did:

Mesquite Path Squared

However, I was thwarted by film and scanner. My old scanner took forever to scan an image, so I didn't really do that much scanning of photos. Digital has made the whole collage process much easier. For this one, I took four photos of two old gas burners I found in a trash heap; one each with flash and without. I like how it came out:

Rusted4Sq

Then I started to go crazy with it. As I've mentioned before, I don't really know Photoshop, I just play with things until I think they look cool. Here are some of my Rusted4Sq series:

My avatar is also from the Rusted4Sq series--an image pushed to the the very extreme!

This is the one I completed last night. This is my photo of cypress trees that F.Gordon said needed an eerie treatment. That got my mind turning. This is the result of mixing F.Gordon's twisted mind with my own--and I like it!

Creepy Forest Funky Foursome

On edit: spellcheck doesn't catch typos of words mistyped that spell other words? :grr:

1. Really like Creepy Forest Funky Foursome
The bent/angled trees really start the collage

2. Cool!
Fun stuff. There's so much you can do in PhotoShop. I never know when to stop... and I want to save all the files I make.

3. That's actually why I started making the collages.
I'd fiddle with a photo and like it... and save it. Then do it again: fiddle, like, save. Repeat. For instance, Creepy Forest Funky Foursome includes only 4 of the Creepy Forest series. I really have eight separate modified images, but only four worked together well in a collage.

4. A twisted mind is a terrible thing to waste

I really like those. Especially the last version of the rustsq2 and that bottom right version of the trees.... plays well with (the) others.

What version of photoshop are you using? Think I have a thingee round' here somewhere that you might be interested in that does collages. If I can find it....

5. That last rusted4sq is also my favorite.
Very hippy-ish, so retro-San-Francisco-circa-1969. :smoke: It's also the image I pushed to make my avatar.

I'm using Photoshop Elements 3.0. It a home version. I tried to upgrade it on line, but it was so old the Photoshop web site didn't even have an upgrade available. :eyes: I used to have a professional version, but it was so old I had to install it with floppy disks! usedtobesick got me this version for my b-day last year.

And I'm so please you noticed the bottom right square on my funky foursome. It's by far my favorite--so much so it's my desktop image. I think it looks like a doorway from another dimension. Creepy!!

6.  I ++++do++++ like that too. Definitely my fave.
I "think" I have a few things that will work with elements. Anywhosil.... if we should meet up after your gulf coast adventure I'll put a CD together for you. And I still owe the two of you a couple of pics from last November. That dinner thing.
:hi:
