The Lionel Express
Went to a Model Train expo today. Nothing much, or too earth shattering, but I think they look cool anyhow. These folks take their craftsmanship seriously.

Either Photobucket is screwing with my pic sizes or DU is. But they are all supposed to be 800X600. :grr:

1. It's PhotoBucket...
...I have that problem all the time. These are really cool. There's a big model train expo going on here right now, too, but I've only seen it on TV. You're right - people really throw themselves into these things. Boys and their toys... :)

I resize all my photos to be within certain size parameters and then I post them from PhotoBucket and they're all over the place. :grr:

2. Choo... Choo
These are kewl. Where did you take these? Is this with the new D$00?

I tried to talk Ms F into going with me down to the sex thing at the convention center. Figured there would be some "interesting" tings' to snap... but she bailed on me.

3. It was at the North Western stock show.
...Like at Washington and I-70...across the freeway from the coluseum. The place was HUGH! I got stupid and ran out of battery life about an hour in. Only took 20 shots.:grr: I got home and there it was, that spare battery, fully charged, sitting in the camera bag I didn't bring.

I didn't take my D200. I don't know how to use it yet (I just figured out how to set the flash this morning), I used my Coolpix, cuz I know how to use it, and it's lightweight. That D200 is a heavy monster, and I wasn't sure if they allowed pictures. Little did I know that train boys are camrea whores. I didn't have to ask. Everybody was like, "Hey take a picture of what I did here!" :D

I heard that sex thing was a rip off. A friend of mine went there...$28 to get in, and The Crypt has more stuff, especially punishment stuff. Some porno star and Ron Jeremy was there to give out autographs, but who want's his ugly ass? I guess his ass isn't what people like about him, LOL!

5. We'll be at the Western stock show place in a couple weeks.
Know it well. Stop on down and you can play "find F.Gordon". Actually... will be bunch of photo opportunities. If you, or any other Colorado snappy wants to come down I can get you in for free on thursday or friday. Just PM me and I can put VIP passes in will call for you (or any one else).

Bummer bought' the battery thing. The train show looked like fun and it sounds like the sex thing was an over-hyped nothing. I've discovered a simple secret to snappin' in a public venue.... look and act professional. Had several people think I worked for the Post or the News when I did my macro and people snaps.

And what's up with the weight of the D$00?? Is that with or without a "Ron Jeremy" lens attached.

:)

8. Whatz the event?
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 12:01 PM by Touchdown
You say "bunch" of photo ops, but if it's a fruit bazaar, those aren't the kind of bunches I'd think would be fun...unless I can paste all the Chiquita stickers all over me.:D

When is it? I'll be in DC between the 11th and 16th, just in case you want to break into my place.

9. While you're gone.........
Please leave the D$00 near the front door so I don't have to look for it.
:D

Photo Ops? Flowers, Gardens, Japanese arrangements & performers, plus next door I think there is an Indian Pow-Wow thing going on. If that doesn't do anything for ya', there's always the 1000's of really strange fucking people that attend and work this event. I would be one of the latter.

:)

6. The perspective/aperture of the 1st shot makes it my fav!
I bet you could get lots of practice with a new camera by going to one of these expos!

When are you gonna post some photos from your new piece of digital photography gold (aka D200)?
