1. that is a tall order.
how about- a high percentage are very creative and artistic, touched by fire, as they say. that would be the good half. the bad half is deep depressions, and often substance abuse problems.
there are lots of treatments available, some old, some new. it can be a little hard to find the right one, but many people do manage.

do you have a more specific question? there are some threads in this forum of real time folks coping with their bp loved ones, and themselves.

3. bp does show up in kids, but it is usually much different.
bp mood swings are more along the lines of weeks and months. there are folks that cycle more quickly, especially during adolescence, but then we are still mostly talking a few days at a time.
a good recourse is http://www.bipolarchild.com /

it is very hard to sort out adolescent behavior. they all seem a little unhinged sometimes. double that for boy children, especially in the anger dept.
i would not presume to form an opinion of this kid. so, i'll just say that raising kids should qualify you for combat pay. even when everything is "normal".
 to you. and to him.
