Well, I have to stop taking the dingdang Lamictal.
It makes me sleepy AND hungry. I couldn't figure out what the heck was the matter with me and then I remembered, duh, new meds. Grumblemumblerumble. It seemed to be leveling me out, too. And, I'm still only at the 2nd weeks dosage.

Maybe I need to start meditating and going to a daily yoga class instead. Chewing licorice. Something. Maybe go back to Prozac which didn't make me sleepy AND hungry. Ack.

This Big Pharma roulette really gets to me sometimes. :(

1. It makes me hungry too,but not sleepy.
Nothing makes me sleepy ever.

I'm actually considering dropping all my meds EXCEPT the Lamictal.I know when I stopped taking it for a couple of weeks I was mega wound up so I don't think I'll quit that one.The others are useless though, unless one actually enjoys nausea 24/7.

2. Sometimes I think it would be easier to strap a brick to my head
as a reminder not to get too excited about anything.

But, that might freak people out.

lol

4. Mood stabilizers are all a crap shoot as far as how they will
affect each person in terms of side effects. They can be very effective for stabilizing mood, or enhancing the effects of antidepressants.

pharma roulette, that's a good term for it.

hang in there friend!

6. I sure hope the hunger doesn't affect everyone
My non-compliant diabetic husband just started Lamictal today. One thing he definitely doesn't need is to eat more. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on that, too. ~sigh~

Thanks for posting this, sfexpat2000!

8. Here's something of interest., I think
Maybe in the near future many of us won't have to go through the guessing game of which pharma will work and which will not..imagine..just having to get an MRI and then your doctor can say..this is the drug most appropriate. Personalized mental health treatment, something we can hope for...
