My LTE to my paper (not Kerry related) but just for your reading pleasure
My paper today in Virginia printed the most ridiculous biased article ever about the aftermath of the Lieberman primary. Here is the article basically, picked up by the Detroit Free Press as well as 100s of newspapers, but it's the same (godawful, terrible journalism, I tell you):

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/2006081...

I almost spit out my coffee the article was so horrid! So I wrote an LTE to my paper, which probably won't be printed, because my letter is too long (and I just couldn't shorten it anymore). Thought you guys might like it (especially since I defend a New England state -- my very own Conn.):

To the Editor,

The xxxxx printed an article titled "Lieberman promises to fight on as independent" on 8/10 which was such a breathtaking piece of right wing spin, that I wondered if Karl Rove hadn't written it himself under a pen name, and how it got past your editors as being even remotely objective.

I was born and raised in Connecticut, and if someone can point out where the "left wing extremists" live, I'd love to see it, because Connecticut has got to be one of the sleepiest, quietest states in the Union. Nevertheless, it does understand what war is, as our little state lost 72 of its residents on 9/11, with its close proximity to New York City. To imply, as the GOP Chairman Ken Mehlman did, that the roughly 50% of Democrats who voted in the state primary are "Defeatocrats" is an incrediblly huge insult and based on complete ignorance of the people living there. However, it is no surprise coming from a Party that has weakened this nation like never before.

Nobody in the Democratic Party or in Connecticut has "seemed to have abandoned" Joe Lieberman. The voters spoke, and Lieberman, in not accepting defeat like a statesman, abandoned them. I have a deep affection for Joe Lieberman, and all the good he did for our state over the years. But there comes a time when a career ends, and this is his. Running as an Independent is a betrayal of all of his past service, and will be a huge mistake.

Finally, since you failed to put in a balanced quote to GOP endless "Dems are weak" rhetoric, I will provide one for you from General Wesley Clarke:

"You see, despite what Joe Lieberman believes, invading Iraq and diverting our attention away from Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden is not being strong on national security. Blind allegiance to George W. Bush and his failed "stay the course" strategy is not being strong on national security. And no, Senator Lieberman, no matter how you demonize your opponents, there is no "antisecurity wing" of the Democratic Party."

6. Clarke is one of the best national security Dem spokespeople
we have. He doesn't mince words, and comes across as tough. I really hope more and more people buy into the message that Iraq has made us less safe, and that there is a better way.

8. Hey Island Blue and Fedup -- check your paper today
They printed my letter!

But . . . they edited it a little, and turned ME into Wes Clark!! So I am a forced plagiarizer. Oh well -- mine was with two other pro-Lamont letters, so that was rather pleasing!!

That is really poor editting - but it's good they are printing it and other pro-Lamont letters.
