My photo album with photos of Kerry from today's rally and fundraiser
I had the pleasure of being at two events with Kerry today -- a rally at a union hall for volunteers and precinct captains and a small fundraiser at a state rep's house. Governor Granholm and Kerry were making the rounds around Michigan today.

At the fundraiser, I had the pleasure of talking to Kerry for a few minutes one-on-one and getting my picture taken with him. Seeing him in person again when he walked into the rally actually brought tears to my eyes. The emotion was so strong. Just thinking about what a wonderful president he would have been..... And he stated at the rally and to me at the fundraiser that he knows that he really won. He and Granholm both sent strong signals that he is planning to run again.

In addition to the photos from these two events, my album has many photos of my activities out on the campaign trail in the field with Nancy Skinner, who is running to unseat Joe Knollenberg in the 9th Congressional District of Michigan. I know they aren't relevant to this group, but it was easier to keep everything in one album.

1. Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Love the photo of you holding onto the Senator's hand. That's a keeper for sure! I love when DU members have the opportunity to meet our Democratic leaders. I love reading the stories and seeing the photos. Thanks again for sharing.

4. You're very welcome!
That's my favorite, too, and it will be going to work with me tomorrow to go up in my office, as will the one with the governor.

It was so much easier to post this whole album with a link than uploading a bunch of photos to Photobucket and posting the links here. I hope folks didn't mind the irrelevant ones in the album. I have some .mov video clips, too, but wasn't sure how to post them here.

2. Those are incredible pictures
It must really hurt knowing he should have won - except for the cheating. The world would be so much better off with him as President.

Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful photos and your great story. Good luck to your candidate.

6. It hurts so much more now that I've seen him in person again
I saw him a couple of times in '04, got to shake his hand quickly one time, but never had a chance to converse with him and get my picture taken. He was so gracious to everyone today. A real "mensch," if you know what I mean (it's Yiddish).

The world has become such a frightening place, which wouldn't have happened had the election not been stolen. And to hear him say "I know we won," although too late, made me feel a bit better. I know some people are mad at him for not admitting it earlier and doing something about it.

After seeing him today and hearing him talk, he's moved back up on my list of preferences for '08. Gore is probably at the top of my list, although I'm really doubtful that he'll run. Kerry had been about my 3rd or 4th choice, after Gore, Clark and maybe Feingold, but he's moved back just after Gore now. If Gore is out of the picture, I'd like to see a Kerry/Clark or Kerry/Feingold ticket.

3. Thank you SharonRB for sharing those pics with us!
That was very nice of you to do. I love your Governor, I think she is one of the best speakers in the Democratic Party. (Her speech at Rosa Parks' funeral last year brought tears to my eyes.) I understand that she is being unfairly tagged with a lot of the 'economic recovery' stuff that is a gift of our outsourcing fool of a President. I hope that she recovers. I think Sen. Kerry sent out a fundraising letter for her.

I love all the pictures! It looks like everyone had a good time. (And he really is really, really tall for a Senator. LOL!)

:patriot: Thanks!

7. You're very welcome, TayTay
He's very, very tall for anyone, not just a senator!

I love Jennifer, too, and she's taking a really bad rap. It's going to be a tough campaign, but I think she's up to the task. She has had a Republican legislature who has fought her every inch of the way and she's had to deal with the mess Engler left her, as well as this corrupt administration.

It's too bad she can't ever run for President (she's Canadian, in case you didn't know), but my feeling is that she may run for Senate when Carl retires. That's just my gut feeling and there's some talk, but there's nothing official about it. She's a wonderful speaker, and she's honest and compassionate and very, very smart. She should be given the chance to complete the turnaround things look like they're starting to take. If DeVos is elected, it will be awful for the state. People are upset now because of the job situation here, but the blame is misplaced and DeVos isn't the answer -- he's shipped thousands of jobs to China.

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.

8. DeVos is the Amway guy, right?
OMG, he is a dyed-in-the-wool Rethug. I hope Michigan doesn't fall for his talking points. He is awful and his company has terrible labor practices.

I really admire Gov. Granholm. It's too bad she can't run for Pres, but I would love to see her in the Senate someday when Sen. Levin retires. Granholm is a phenomenal speaker. I'm happy to hear you say it's starting to turn around for her. Michigan has really been hurt by the Rethug policies and by the economic downturn for middle-class people. I hope they give her a chance to right the ship.

Again, thanks for stopping by and now that you know us, don't be a stranger. Come in and post any old thing. Feel free to say what's on your mind. (Even it's critical of Kerry, we often use this forum to hash out things that we don't agree with or aren't clear in what the very tall Sen from Mass says. That's what's so great about having this 'cool room' all to ourselves.)

He is wicked tall. He gave a speech in Boston recently and there were these tourists from Tennessee in town who wanted to know if they could catch a glimpse of him before he left the area. I laughed and told them that Kerry was not hard to pick out in a crowd, just look for that silver hair on a very tall gentleman. Can't miss 'em.

13. Oh, yeah, he's the Amway guy alright
Interesting -- a lot of people in Michigan don't realize that. Good for you! They changed the name of the company to Alticor a while back, so people don't make the connection all the time. He and his company and the largest donors to Bush and he's the second richest person ever to run for the office in the U.S.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As we get closer to '08, I'm sure you'll be seeing more of me.

9. Nice pics!!
Looks like a great day, and it really is sad to know we didn't have to be in this hellish nightmare. Sadly, I'm not sure people have really made the connection between conservatism and the nightmare or Granholm wouldn't be having a close election at all.

I feel really lucky. I got to shake his hand in '04, but it was a large crowd and he was surrounded by secret service and I didn't really get to talk to him.

11. Thanks for sharing your wonderful pics
I'm glad you got to meet our esteemed taller Senator. Every time I see * on tv, I cry for what might have been if Kerry or Gore had been allowed to take office.

DeVos is dangerously far to the right, and must not be allowed to win in MI. The voters of MI must be told how much of a right-wing looney DeVos really is.

14. Jennifer has our backs.
She hasn't gotten started yet, but when she does, watch out! She said the people of Michigan won't have any doubt about who really DeVos is when she gets finished with him.

We can't afford for our state to turn red. As the governor says, there is no electoral map that will allow for a red Michigan and a Democratic presidential win. It just can't be done.

19. Your pics are terrific!
I LOVE that pic of you with JK. Isn't he just the most beautiful man? Sigh... :loveya:

He's just such an amazing person, I don't even know where to begin. You are a very lucky woman, not only because you got some facetime with Kerry, but also because you have such great people representing you in Michigan - Granholm is amazing and I'm really pulling for Nancy Skinner this year.

I'm proud of the liberal tradition of the upper Midwest (I'm an Illinoisan), though I can't help but be jealous of the Bay State and its two senators.

Yes, he is beautiful. And, yes, I am lucky to have Granholm, both Levins (Sandy is my Rep) and Stabenow. The governor is going to have a hard time, but she has a plan and I think she can pull it off. It's going to be a tough campaign, though.

I'm glad you're pulling for Nancy. If you're interested in donating to her campaign, go to this link:

I've set up a page on ActBlue to raise money for her.

And someday I might be able to say I met the President of the United States. Well, I actually did, but not everybody would agree with that.
