Senate debate on Iraq Withdrawal

There will be periodic debate on the Senate floor on Iraq today. The Rethugs are still pushing the 'cut and run' meme. Sen. Durbin just spoke briefly on the merits of withdrawal.

Sen. Isakson (R-GA) is now pontificating that it was wrong to withdraw from Vietnam because it made the US weak. He thinks we are winning in Iraq and invoking 9/11 again. (Sigh!)

Isakson is using the death of a soldier to perpetuate the war that took his life. Rethugs are disgusting. Pretending that Iraq has something to do with WWII and accusing the dissenters of being wrong and hinting of cowardice.

He has bought the noble victory thing about Zaqawi's death. He is spewing out the RW lies about how we are on the verge of winning. And, like all Rethugs, he is using the troops to push the Rethug point of view. Sigh!

Iraqi Security Chief says that US should pull at least 30,000 US troops by the end of this year. Do the Rethug Sens like Kyl want to continue to lie about Iraqis asking us not to leave. This sentiment was expressed in the WaPo this morning.

8. They have a vote coming up on the Nelson Amendment

and then I think there is another amendment. Has the Feingold/Kerry one been sent up yet? I have not yet heard about a speaking schedule. I am beginning to think this will happen tomorrow, but I could be wrong.
