This is an older piece, and some of you may already have it.

If Palast has not recounted his claims here, this is a valuable insight into the Ohio election results in 2004, which I still feel were rigged or Diebolded or obstructed etc. by Blackwell and his Rovian masters and won fair and square by Kerry-Edwards.

Anyway, in the OFF-CHANCE that anyone were to post an anti-Kerry thread on DU, Palast's observations are an insightful reference.

It helped me feel like I was in reality again! Because that election was certainly unreal.

The voter suppression issue is a big one. And one fix is to have a system of voting by mail, because it eliminates problems at the polls--intimidation, long lines, broken machines, etc. You have a paper trail and it saves people time and bother, making them more likely to do it. And no voting machines! This saves communities a lot of money, not to mention chances for fraud.
The only possible concern anybody has is that maybe family members could lean on someone to vote a certain way. But on balance, that seems less of a problem than the other things.
