Patriot Project letter from organization president Judith Droz Keyes
The Patriot Project is on the job. This is a great pro-active organization dedicated to stopping swiftboating of veterans. Any of you who haven't joined yet, can sign up for their newsletter. http://www.patriotproject.com

Dear XXXX,

Over the last two weeks The Patriot Project has been contacting veterans running for the House and Senate encouraging them to publicly release their military records. These men and women have served our country bravely and are now seeking public office to set the country on a new course.

Our counsel to release their military records is a pre-emptive step against the attack apparatuses that will surely seek to publicize blatant lies about their service during the upcoming mid-term election.

The Patriot Project needs your help to continue this work.

It's a pattern we have seen over and over again: candidates - Republicans and Democrats - become the targets of coordinated smear campaigns in which their military records are questioned and distorted when they dissented on U.S. foreign policy. Kerry, Cleland, McCain, Murtha ... this tactic will surely be used again in the upcoming mid-term elections.

We simply cannot remain silent while men and women who have served proudly and honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States of America are attacked as unpatriotic for expressing their views on U.S. foreign policy. In a democracy, citizens have a right, even a duty, to speak out when they believe their government is wrong in policy or action.

That is why we created The Patriot Project and we need your support. Click https://secure.ga3.org/03/patriotproject to support The Patriot Project.

The Patriot Project employs research, public education, media outreach and a rapid response mechanism to expose the organizations attacking the patriotism of veterans who question U.S. foreign policy. Please visit our site to show your support by donating to the Patriot Project and to learn more about the players behind the smear campaigns.

To speak out is true patriotism, especially in the face of personal attacks and most especially when those attacks are lies. We urge you to join this fight, and exercise your right to speak out today.

Sincerely
Judith Droz Keyes
President

1. This is wonderful!
We need to put this on GD. This is exactly the kind of tracking that Democratically aligned interest groups should be doing.

Wonderful, wonderful stuff. (The check is, ahm, in the digital mail people.)

However, I will do so this weekend. (At the weekly budget discussion in my house. Sigh! My desire to contribute sometimes exceeds my means. If I donate here, someone else gets nothing.)

6. Yup, I know the feeling.
At least we can support them. Everybody with a Web site or blog should link to them and click on it to give them hits from time to time. A search or two to pull them up also can't hurt.

And join their mailing list. I know you have. :D

2. Conjecture - I assume that this is being done for exactly the reason given
but a very interesting thought is that in 2008, it could hurt a prominent Republican candidate. From some indications, McCain was a poor to mediocre soldier before he was captured. With all the Democrats (including Kerry) putting theirs out, I bet some Repug primary opponent will demand it.

7. They're naming names!!!!!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

check out the "Anatomy of a Smear" on their home page. That is exactly what we need to do, oh yippee skippee!! We need to make those direct connections across the board, like the money behind these christian groups too. People in Pennsylvania should make a flyer of that one thing, the Murtha smear, and then use it across the state in every single election. That's who they are, the whole lot of them.

The Stop Sinclair again petition:

http://www.stopsinclair.org /

Sinclair Broadcasting is still out there causing trouble and this site is keeping tabs on their doings. Lots of info too. These bastards are as intertwined as worms in a can.
