I've been toying with the idea of becoming a moderator
What do you guys think? I applied this last time, but wasn't picked.

I found that somewhat disappointing, but then again, I'm wondering if it might be for the best. I mean, how much would I have to change how I post? Am I better off as a free agent, as it were?

Thoughts?

1. I'm not sure about your second question
But in my opinion the biggest factor is to put aside bias towards posters and towards their ideas when you need to determine what needs to be regulated--just a guess. And will D.U. allow a defender of kerry to become a mod? Maybe they prefer people who haven't already declared themselves to like a candidate.

I don't know....

2. I would think that if I continued to defend Kerry in a civil manner it
wouldn't be a problem. But mods are probably expected to stay out of fights.

Free agent in that I'm free to say what I like within the rules. And maybe I'd have to stifle myself too much. And if I have a problem with something, there's always the alert button. Sometimes I wonder what the mods think of my explanations, but they probably get so many alerts they don't know mine from Adam's.

I've been known to alert on Kerrycrat and non-Kerrycrat alike when I thought something they said was against the rules. I also try to keep an open mind. I'm not even sure if I was in the running this time. But it sounded like an interesting job, and one I thought I could do.

But like I said, I might have to stifle myself too much.

Just trying to decide if I'll try again at some point.

And will y'all still love me if I become one of the trustees? ;)

3. Will we still love ya, Clarkie?
Is the sky blue?

Is the grass green in the summer?

Is chocolate the best food ever invented?

You betcha!

4. About that "would DU allow a Kerry person to mod?" question...
I noted that unblock retired after his/her last term as a mod. Not that this necessarily means anything--I've seen other mods slam Kerry, defend Dean/Clark or other folks, and stay on. I haven't pm'd unblock about it--and I believe mods are prohibited from discussing behind-the-scenes stuff anyway--so I have no idea what the circumstances are. I'm not sure this is a good idea for you, LC. I think you're one of our most restrained, reasonable forum members, but--modding here in this climate would require a LOT of composure and not just in regard to Kerry.
