Well, they should re-open Logan Airport fairly soon.

We got 1 foot of snow today. We had all snow where I am and it's the light fluffy stuff that easy to shovel. Boston had yucky conditions with high winds, rain, white-out snowfall and general messiness. Logan Airport just closed and there are a bunch of flights that have been cancelled. I think Logan will re-open soon, but I am sort of sweating this one out. (Just Fire. She was due to be in around 7:00 tonight. I am hopeful that her airline didn't cancel and that if she is onboard that her flight doesn't divert.) Our other visitors for today are due in after 10:00 pm, when the whole weather event should be over, including the wind.

:scared: Not of the weather, cuz the snow is nearly over, just about our visitors. (Whose idea was it to have people come to Boston in Dec? Oh, yeah, John Kerry's actual birthday is actually in Dec. IF this was GD, there would now be a thread on how inconsiderate it was to get oneself born in such an ill-chosen month. What was he thinking?)

Tomorrow, btw the way, should be fine. Folks traveling tomorrow should be okay, but it might be busy, due to the backup from today's cancellations.

3. Well, it will be pretty, that's for sure.

Funny, I have no cares at all about the weather now or about me or getting in town tomorrow. It is rapidly improving. I'm just worried about our yung'uns coming in and the flights they are on. I was worried about GRLMGC, who is from the LA area. I don't know that she has ever been in a snow event and she is traveling alone. (Due to get in after 10:00 or so tonight. I actually think she will be fine, but I will call Whome to make sure she 'got her' tonight at Logan.)

Boston in winter is interesting. We don't often get lightning strikes during a blizzard, never mind one that strikes a plane's wing. Geesh, that's a little frightening. Sigh!

except I wasn't shoveling snow when I was thinking it. :) I can't believe I'm going to Boston after a blizzard. For some of you guys it's not bizarre - for me it is! If this is a John Kerry loyalty test, I hope we all pass!

5. We have very weird weather

We had thundersnow today. I did manage to see a bit of sunshine on the western horizon before it got dark. This was aabout half an hour after it was a complete white-out.

I heard there was a 2 to 3 hour backlog of arriving flights at Logan. So our guests might be a bit late getting here.

7. OMG.

Just got back from an ill-conceived trip to downtown to try out cellos (DON'T ASK), and the traffic was insane. Plus, even with the rain/hail interval this afternoon we still had a foot of (heavy) snow to shovel.

Ok, enough bitching. Anyone check the arrivals lately?

everything seems to be saying they're running on time. Since nothing else in the city is, that info strikes me as suspect. I think I'll go tune in NECN.

13. Just got a call from Vektor (7:40 pm)

She got delayed in Minneapolis - St. Paul airport and was supposed to reboard the flight to Boston and Logan Airport at around 7:45 pm tonight. (That should put her in Boston around 10:00 ish?) Vektor is traveling with a friend and just called me to let me know she is still coming in.

Fire is stuck in Atlanta. She is waiting for a flight to leave and be cleared for a landing in Bosotn where there (is) was only one landing strip open. (There should be more now. and it should get better all through the night as they de-ice and plow the landing strips.)

Vek promised to call when she gets to Boston.

Now, we need to hear from GRMLGC and WEL. (Just get here already and get safely on the ground. The roads are getting better by the minute and I am still a bit nervous.)
