Kerry bashing alert on GD
Apparently, we are in a new phase where it is fine to bash as long as it is Kerry or Clinton.

Useless, but you have to keep the kids busy, I guess.

1. They're hopeless and illogical
Because Hillary has very few supporters here, the tone of the Kerry and Clinton threads differ. The Kerry complaints are answered, not just by us but often by others - so someone with no firm pre-conceived bias does see usually ungrounded whining versus counter arguments. The Hillary ones become less angry, but seem to have people re-enforcing each other in their views.

Although it's tricky to make comparisons, the fact that the anti- Hillary ones grow very long and appear ofen should at least counter the idea that if we didn't defend Kerry the threads would simply sink. Hers don't.

3. I offered a candidate in that thread: Ben Affleck
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 12:21 PM by Mass
Given that they dont care about the issues or about the ability of the candidate to be president, but only about the charismatic, touchy-feely, good on TV aspect and that any Democrat will do for them as long as they think he has these characteristics.

So

Ben Affleck for President 08.

6. Ben's accent will be more technically correct than Bush's Texas one
BTW I see that sandnsea is pushing George Clooney for 2008 in a GD parody of that earlier thread. . .

20. Okay, seriously? I don't love Affleck, but his W. impersonation is
DEAD ON. It's scary, how good it is. I think he could become "Southern" if that's what the Party wanted. :-)

11. Kevin Kline, damn it!!
or Michael Douglas.

I want someone who's had experience playing a president at least.

God I love that speech at the end of "An American President."

13. Clooney does an excellent southern accent
Based on that (and his wicked-excellent good looks) I'll throw my support behind Clooney. Geez, that was easy. :P

Affleck's a bit young for it anyway, isn't he?

21. I'll go with Clooney too.
Doesn't he actually have southern roots? It seems like he has family from Kentucky which can be considered a southern state in an emergency.

7. The rules. It's in the rules.
This thread will probably be going bye bye as well.

That's why I try to talk generally about "some people" without referring to threads and such. Threads that refer to other threads get locked. Telling someone you're alerting on them will get your post deleted. Do it, but just don't talk about it.

The rules are pretty generally applied even out in GD and GD:P. It's frustrating, I know. But we need to speak more generally when we refer to stuff like that.

I can usually tell when we're about to be deleted in here. I knew your thread was going bye bye when I saw it.

That said, I know how you feel. Trust me. I hate it too. And I appreciate the support I get here.

But one thing I've been thinking is that we can't let them get to us, here or on Kos or on Raw Story. Write to them, but let's try to continue positively with our support for Kerry.

That's what I'm going to try to do anyway. I don't need the pissing matches I got into with Armando on Dkos. It was almost trollish. And like a troll, such exchanges just sap energy.

I'm going to try and not give into negativity.

8. I insist
Ben Affleck for President for 08

I will settle for Clooney though if he can have more votes.

This said, I was not aiming at any post or any thread in particular.

Whoever said humor works better sure had it right. That was just a laugh riot posting idiocy in that thread. My blood pressure didn't rise or anything. :)

I appreciated the backup too!
