Why is there a home page article about Murtha?
There is a home page article, the blurb for which implies Murtha is alone in proposing an actual strategy for exiting Iraq.

WTF? Does this rankle anyone else? Why the systematic attempts to stifle anything Kerry does?

1. Murtha's answer is important - I see no pb there.

It is an honest assessment of what Murtha's proposition is.

2. It's just the idea that Kerry gets no similar article
As if he had never proposed a plan at all. It's as if no Democrat had spoken out on Iraq until Murtha. which is a fiction that DU and other lefty blogs seem intent on perpetuating.

3. The first point is true. However, since Murtha has been speaking out
people have spoken of Kerry's plan. By people, I mean reporters, which is the important thing, remember.

Forget the rest.

Happy Thanksgiving

5. I know DU is largely irrelevant
I am glad Kerry has been out giving more interviews. Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

4. Because redeployment is better than
bringing our troops home.

Having them languish as targets in the region is better than having them languish as targets in Iraq. And in the event that Iraq doesn't shape up, they can reenter Iraq to languish some more.

Seriously, these people aside, I hope the Democrats have Murtha out front for a reason. That reason being what TayTay said before: to back Republicans into a corner, forcing them to defend their position.

6. I have nothing but respect for Murtha
And I would not be surprised if this is part of a bigger strategy between Murtha and Kerry.

Can't count on the idiots at DU and Kos to understand that, though

was talking about this yesterday. He was sure the dems are pushing Murtha out front on this as part of a coordinated strategy.

Judging by what we've seen thus far from Harry Reid, sounds like a distinct possibility.

10. I am going to keep believing that is the strategy
until proven otherwise.

7. One thing I have noticed
Correct me if anyone has heard different... JK has been out there defending Murtha since the day the first attacked Murtha. I have not heard Murtha do the same. AmericaBlog accused JK of trying to upstage Murtha, yet JK's interviews that day were prescheduled long before Murtha's press conference.

Honeslty I'm glad Murtha has gotten so much attention because the point is to draw attention to getting the F out of Iraq. However his plan is being wildly misinterpretated and the fact he's being touted by some as this great liberal is nuts.

Just my 2 cents. I agree it would have been nice if JK got equal coverage when he first brought up his plan.

8. I think that would have been nice as well.
I it's something that he has gotten so much 'face time' on TV and this past week and the interview on the radio (NPR twice and the Schultz show.) I think the more media he does, the more his ideas get noticed.

As Mass has pointed out, the real value of the Murtha plan is obviously not in the details. It's in who proposed it. This was a break through moment in pushing the Republicans to start to make some changes in how we are prosecuting this war. Bravo to Murtha and to the Dem leadership who pushed him to do this.

I think Sen. Kerry's bill (he has an actual bill) is much more detailed and better thought out. It is currently in the SFRC. I hope (and pray) that other Dems take this up after the Holiday break and push to get this bill the hearings and consideration it deserves. (I can hope. This REthug Congress doesn't want to consider anything it doesn't like. This will be tough sledding to get it so much as a hearing. But all the Dems need to push this anyway. We have to push the Rethugs to push Bush to change course. Now is the time.)
