Heaven knows why the article is from Alabama

Look at the RNC response - they are lunatics - they only address Kerry's comment about wishing they were working on a time machine instead of brain research. Apparently, the reporter in an interview found it necessary to get Kerry's comment that it was a joke.

2. Looks like that was from a site affiliated with Univ. of Alabama

Seems like I remember another article (about Kerry) posted here not too long ago that was from that same source or one similar. Actually I think it's good that they are picking up AP stories about Sen. Kerry and running them for students to read deep in the heart of red country.

I thought the fact that the reporter felt the need to get an RNC response to anything Kerry said at such an event was a little odd. If they couldn't tell his time machine comment was a joke, I think they need to spend a little time having their brains researched.

3. Good point about Alabama
It's also a surprisingly nice article - that covers many of Kerry's points. His jokes are cute and smart. I liked that they pointed out he was holding hands with Teresa.

the RNC scores exactly 0 points. I think Kerry has a 2004 joke just to get beyond it in most speeches, he's clearly not in a rut like Bush.

4. Oh jeez,
Glen Johnson again. Kerry's own personal AP shadow. :eyes:

"It was strictly joking and I'm not spending any time on that," Kerry said as he clutched the hand of his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry. "You just don't go backwards."

Not bad for Glen Johnson, but good lord, "clutched"? Did he need to use her as a security blanket? :eyes:

5. it plays into the whole crap about him marrying for money
and needing a women to take care of him financially and other ways.

the right wing pushed this regularly last year. i'm sure it was to try to make BUsh appear to be some tough strong person.

6. I totally missed that connotation
I just thought it was sweet that he was holding her hand. But clutched seems more like a little boy. It sounded like a nice honor for Kerry to speak at this occasion.

7. I like this, I like it a lot.
Republican remarks show the reason why brain research is so desperately needed. Perhaps we can come up with the reason why Scooter Libby writes bad sex novels involving 10 year girls and bears. A brain is, after all, a terrible thing to waste.

Kerry spoke at the dedication of the McGovern Institute for Brain Research. The facility is named for Patrick and Lore Harp McGovern, who founded it with a $350 million donation, the largest donation ever made to MIT. The 411,000-square-foot institute -- the largest neuroscience center in the world -- will house 40 faculty members and their research groups.

Sen. Kerry has been involved with science and research since, well forever. (Big geek.) He has always had an unwavering support for funding the sciences, engineering and medical research and has done a lot to attract science research and businesses to the Commonwealth. So the Rethugs can bite me. (They are jealous. Kerry can spell science and they cannot.)

Sen. Kerry is a good Dem. I am very happy that he was at Geek-Central, ahm, MIT to celebrate this important milestone in Mass science history. This is a wonderful thing. And someday, if all goes well, we will find that elusive cure for Rethuglicanism, we just have to keep at it.

8. "And someday, if all goes well, we will find that elusive cure
for Rethuglicanism." That will take many, many years and at least a brazilian dollars. I know we should keep searching for a cure for that dreaded condition, but in the meantime, can we try to find a cure for Lefty Freeperism?

9. It will take a lot of time and dedication and will
burn through a ton of researchers. (All the researchers will have to get hazard pay and have their own mental health checked out every two months. No sane human can put up with this stuff for that long without wiggin out.)

10. Wouldn't surprise me if they were caused by slightly different
damage to the same parts of the brain. (There may be additional damage in the area that allows for empathy for the Rethugs) Additional research may establish why a portion of the perfectly ok Republicans can't see the mutations that make for a Rethug.)
