Love letter from Teresa (aka Mamma T)
This message was posted at the Democracy Cell Project. As you are aware...some of the people there were former blog mods as are some of the people here. (They can 'out' themselves if they want.) Anyway, it's a really sweet message from Mamma T. Reading this letter makes me even more proud of Teresa and JK and even more ashamed of the media and the hardliners who just beat them up. They're truly good people.

Received this morning from Teresa Heinz Kerry:

A year ago today, many of us were hoping that we would begin to change the course that America was on by electing my husband President of the United States. While we fell short of that goal, I wanted to use this occasion to thank you again.

Words alone cannot express my sincere gratitude for everything you did for John and me. Our campaign was fueled by the energy and enthusiasm of people like you all across America. Your hope and tenacity reaffirmed my belief in this great country of ours.

As I campaigned across the country, I learned so much from each and every person I met. My life was, and forever will be, enriched with the knowledge, resolve and affection that I gained through that experience. And that journey could not have begun or continued without you and others like you--Americans who believe in a better America and a better world.

Your generosity, principle and faith are qualities that I will always cherish, and I will never forget how hard you worked for John and for our country.

Thank you for being part of our lives, and remember, our journey continues. Let’s continue to be the saints and keep marching on.

With warm personal regards,

Teresa a/k/a Mamma T.

3. That is so sweet
"Let’s continue to be the saints and keep marching on." That is so cute. As we've claimed John Kerry as "our president", we are so lucky to get such a personable, intelligent compassionate woman as "our first lady".

4. I know!
And it makes me sad that the media so villified such a caring person.

Clearly, she (and John) have raised GREAT, loving, compassionate, unselfish kids. Whereas, the Bush twins probably give them nightmares. Sure...the kids aren't politicians and should be left out of media slamming, but then the same is true of Teresa. She is John's loving wife. The very fact that she was not a politician or the typical "politician's wife" made her easy pickins' for the slimeball media.

10. I miss her as much as JK
She would have brought so much vitality to this country, she is so genuine. There is no way Katrina would have happened under her watchful eye, no way at all. We missed so so much by not having these two amazing people in the White House.

5. Odd
Perhaps whoever gave THK the email addresses, left some of us out. Maybe Karen/Ray of Light can correct that. I can think of atleast 3 or 4 other Mods who most likely did not get the email.

But THK asked that the message be put out here for all her cyber-friends to read.

8. Actually that's not the case
Someone else who received it directly from THK posted it in the comments on my blog.

http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.com/?p=1043

I've also seen other emails posted on DCP, from THK, none of which some who also worked on the Kerry blog ever get. Not really an issue but it would be nice if everyone who worked on the Blog and Forum got them.

11. Gee...
I can out myself? LOL :hippie:

Yes, I was a lowly mod at the Kerry blog, and no, although other mods did get the email from Teresa, I did not. Oh well, I know what I did, and continue to do, for John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Living in Rural Red, I hear enough anti-progressive statements on a daily basis life to bother with those attitudes on-line, so, on-line time is spent with people (at The Democratic Daily and more recently, here,) who, like me, also continue to actively support John Kerry.

And, I also know that I've not once wavered in my support, even if it meant being banned from a place (a site I helped create) when I did stand up for John Kerry in the face an outright lie about one of his votes. (And no, it wasn't the IRW vote.)

15. If you were the one alerting us to Kerry related events there
and elsewhere, thank you so much. I loved reading the blog, but the very best thing was knowing when to catch the various appearances. I rarely posted because there was little to contribute from NJ. (Other than posts pointing out that the polls that occasionally showed a close race were not the dependable Eagleton polls that have been done in NJ at least since the 80s and that there were many people in my area with signs for the Rep House candidate without Bush signs.)

Unfortunately, watching Kerry rallies unfiltered by the media leads to intense admiration of the candidate's intelligence, character and judgement. (Although I preferred them to win, I don't think I even thought of Carter, Dukakis, Mondale, or even McGovern after the election. Gore I did in the sense that I knew he was cheated. I wanted Gore to beat Bush - but it was mostly party lines.)

that was me, aka CarolforKerry. We tried our damndest to get everything out there. Those rallies and town hall meetings were what got a lot of people interested in Kerry. Remember Iowa? People saw the real John Kerry unfiltered and they liked what they saw.

19. Color me a cynic...
but I can't help wondering if this email is really from THK. For one thing, would she use her aka? And if so, wouldn't she spell it as it is commonly spelled, "Momma T" instead of "Mamma T?"

In light of the last email that went around, I'm beginning to doubt these "straight from the mouth" emails.

Forget trust, that's been broken, I want verification before I'll believe this email (nice as it is) is truly from THK.

I do think it is authentic. When she e-mailed me recently, she signed it "with warm personal regards." (Although she didn't sign it "Mamma T, just Teresa). And the text of the message sounds like her voice.

22. I just find the whole thing...
hard to believe. For one thing, Teresa already thanked the moderators via snail mail, which included an email address to contact her if desired.

Also, the folks (and I know them well), from the DCP are known for having multiple alias on-line and for using those alias to pump up their own posts, something I find quite sad. So, I simply don't put it past someone from there assuming a Teresa alias and then posting that around the internet, along with a public email address. I'm sorry, I just seriously doubt THK would want her address public at this point in time.

Just my opinion.

24. I think that the e-mail address she set up
was purposely for public viewing. It certainly isn't her private e-mail. Based on the resonses that I received from her, I find it hard to believe that it was an imposter. If it was someone posing as her, they're certainly very knowledgeable about the Heinz Family Philanthropies, because whoever it was that answered the e-mail told me that I could apply for an internship there and included the name and e-mail address of someone specific to contact in the office. I don't know, what do other people think?

26. Mass...
From experience, I know to question what is posted by the people from that site, a site that is NOT supportive of John Kerry but is supportive of people who bash John Kerry and lie about his record.

So, why is it considered an attack to question the authenticity of an email posted here that I have serious doubts about? I don't trust the email is authentic and I posted the reasons why. People are free to believe what they want to believe.

I didn't believe the email that you received was authentic. What if it had been posted here and no one spoke out?

If I'm supposed to be quiet in this forum and let everything said go without question, so be it.

I have no clue whether it is true or not, but the easier way to know, for somebody connected with the Kerry team, may be to ask them and then to tell us.

It is true that DCP is not a Kerry site and that some people do not like kerry, but there are still many people who do. So who knows? This email is not offensive anyway, so how bad can this be?

I'm less concerned about the email's authenticity and more concerned about the email address and the replies that are supposedly coming from Teresa. Besides, anyone who is at all internet savvy knows not to put an email address on-line. Scavenger programs are set up to harvest them and the resulting spam would overwhelm the account in a few days.

33. However, if it's an e-mail address that's set up
specifically for the purpose of public viewing, then that wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm sure that Teresa has more than one e-mail account (I know I do), and I believe that the Yahoo accounts are free and she could stop using it whenever she wants.

about the validity of the address, why don't you e-mail it yourself and see what kind of response you get, and then let us know? Or, better yet, contact a someone who you know could verify the address (e.g. Teresa's office or JK's office) and ask them about it?

41. That is a perfectly...
reasonable request. :-) However, I don't have that particular email address, and honestly, if the address is a phony, it isn't at all clear to me that the person who responded wouldn't know already know things about me. (See my post about the use of alias above.)

As I said in another post, it's clear the prevailing viewpoint here is that it IS Teresa and I am the only one expressing doubt about its validity. I think that means my opinion is outvoted, and that's fine with me.

However, I will ask a friend of mine that is in daily contact with JK's people if they will try and find out if the addy is real. As I said above, for your sake Lizzy, I hope it is real.
