Kerry Statement
Statement by John Kerry on Closed-Door Senate Session and Senate Failures to Investigate Pre-War Intelligence

“For a year and a half, the Republican leadership in Congress has refused again and again to complete Phase II of their investigation into pre-war intelligence failures. All the requests I and other Senators have made of the Intelligence Committee for more information have been pushed aside. The Republican leadership has been complicit in a political cover-up of the decisions that led to war. Nothing could be more serious or more deserving of full public disclosure. The families of our troops deserve the truth, as does every American. Now that one of the chief architects of the war in Iraq has been indicted for related crimes, it is more important than ever to know how intelligence was presented to the Congress.

“The country and the Congress were misled into war. It is deeply troubling that the Republicans in Washington are so afraid to share the truth with the American people. Clearly it will require an independent, outside investigation to get to the bottom of this.”

5. yeah but Frist gets the prize
To stand up in front of that microphone and be oh-so-hurt and offended! Booo Hoooo. And I know he lied--I don't remember exactly what, but I knew them to be lies. No shame.

4. glad he mentioned he called for an investigation early on
btw,i noticed some of the threads in GD. and once again some show themselves to just looking for a chance to bash.

wonder why there aren't any "too little too late" type responses to Reid and other demands they make with Kerry.

6. oh it's because Kerry hurt their little feelings I guess.
"He pwomised to win the election! I want my money back! Waaah!"

To that, I say welcome to the real world, kids.

(Ok, snark break over. Kerry on.)

7. I do not understand it
I just really don't. They twist themselves in knots to bash him over everybody else and they've been doing it since the very beginning. It's a visceral, gut level response. I have been trying to understand it from a psychological stand point, and I just do not get it at all.

8. I don't either.
There's something almost pathological about it. The IWR vote? It's like they are sworn to hate him, and no matter what he does they twist it into a negative. And the more he does that's good and purely liberal, the more it drives them crazy because it makes them want to like him - and they just can't let themselves do that. They'd have to admit they were wrong about him all along (and we were right). God forbid.

It's extremely perverse. Or maybe they're just contrarians.

10. It doesn't help that people like Chris Mathews
stated twice on his show today that top Democrats, such as Kerry, Hillary .... still have not backed away form their IWR vote. Now there are 3 possibilities:
1) He is unaware of a major speech given by a man he just called a top Democrat - and who he is comfortable describing the currenmt views of.
2) He has learning disabilities and can not understand the entire paragraph where Kerry says the vote was wrong.
3) He knows what Kerry said but knows most listeners don't - he was corrected by none of his experts.

Should we all email copies of Kerry's speech to him?

12. Yes, we should.
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 10:18 PM by TayTay
Matthews is simply wrong on this, as he was about the 'anti-Italian' memo that was actually put out by a Repub.

I suggest that we all snip out the papagraph from the Iraq speech wherein Kerry states that the vote was wrong and send it to him. He is such a jerk and Rethug toadie.

BTW, Nice statement from Sen. Kerry. :loveya: (I have this thing for noble guys. That statesman thing is just so, ahm, yummy. Really, really yummy. Sigh! Wow! Talks in complete, well-thought out sentences. Always makes statements about the good of the nation. Yummy! :loveya: )

13. Yes! IMO, we can not allow Kerry misinformation to stand without
a rebuke. Our Dem representatives need to be more up on things also. How can they defend if they aren't armed with the latest ammunition?

9. Commence the Snoopy Dance of Joy!
Yeah! That was awesome today! (Was it good for you too Harry?) I don't care what the naysayers and doom-and-gloom bastards in Lefty freeperville are saying. I just don't today. This is better than Fitzmas! Yeah!

That was gorgeous. It was like watching someone who has had to put up with a frickin idiot for a very long time just get totally and completely pissed off with their lies and bullying and just flat out deck 'em. Lay 'em out in clover. Harry Reid and the other brave Dems just decked 'em, applied a boot to their necks and made them promise not to be such self-important little whiny asshats anymore. (Really, that was a beautiful thing. "Say uncle you lying sons-a-bitches. Admit that you are whiney little snotrags and I'll let you up." Bwaa-ha-ha-ha-ha. Just beautiful.)

I just want to savor this one. It was friggin awesome.

Ladies and gentlemen
On behalf of all the people who have assembled here
I would merely like to mention if I may
That our unanimous attitude
Is one of lasting gratitude
For what our friend has done for us today
And therefore I would simply like to say

Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me
I may sound Double-Dutch
But my delight is such
I feel as if a losing war's been won for me
And if I had a flag I'd hang my flag out
To add a sort of final victory touch
But since I left my flag at home
I'll simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much!

DU
Thank you very, very, very much!
