why is DU all "there's no difference between dems and repubs" today?

I swear there are a trillion and one threads in GD along the lines of:

"let's go green!"

"let's start a third party!"

"I hate the Democrats in power!"


Seems like any time Democrats make headway agains Bush and republican Agenda these posts multiply. And the DU admins just leave 'em be. Why?

I called done such person a troll, but in a LOTR way. (You know, trollish rights and all.)

I think it's because of the high profile hearings on Roberts in the Senate. Trolls want people distracted.

Freepy freeps getting their second wind. "Go Green" indeed. Ha! Not that they aren't good group, but there should be a way to vote for the Greens and still have it counted as Democratic. I read recently of just such a proposal.

I heard something somewhere recently about it. It was used successfully in some foreign country--sorry I don't remember more. But I thought it sounded good. You can vote for a party and express your priorities, and then your vote also goes to the overall party as well. I'd like to be able to vote that way.

7. I think NYC does that

You vote for the candidate you want and then have like a second choice or something. And Louisiana has a 50% requirement, which is similar to IRV. There are some changes in voting that could lead to more people feeling like their voices are being heard, that would be a very good thing.

5. I had some really good exchanges over the weekend

there were a couple of really worthwhile threads - had me feeling positively about DU for the first time in months.

Today - it's right back to the same old Kerry/Democrats hating bullshit.

I do not understand why the admin of this site allows this kind of crap. This could be a worthwhile website - this wknd showed that.

But mostly it's not.

6. Well, Greens do have a political agenda

That's the thing that I think some fail to grasp, ALL politicians have an agenda to push and Greens aren't very necessary if the left is happy with the Democrats. I still think it's a good idea to have a strong left to define the differences on the Democratic side, I just wish the Greens and lefties would push an agenda instead of tearing Dems down. Or that some on DU would recognize that no political party is free from playing politics.

9. For the greens, then could it be that Kerry

represents more of a threat to them than Dean, Gore, Clark and the Clintons. He has a cleaner record of supporting liberal causes than most of their heros. (at one time I thought simply that they were more dissapointed in him on the war and the patriot act because they assumed he was where they were on these issues.) Not to mention he didn't interrupt Bush's inaugeration, push him from the lecturn and demand based on exit polls that he be sworn in.
