and otherwise too. Nice to know there's a place to read good stuff about him without the naysayers (for whatever reason) aren't joining in. Thanks.

I like to being able to be caught up on political news without fearing being caleld a pseudo repub or whatever, and besides everyone here is great, we combine a lounge aspect, and we like to tease each other.

6. hmmmmmmm, started as a ABBer
First campaign I'd worked much on ever, beyond signing up everyone I knew to vote that wasn't registered (been doing that for yrs and yrs). Mr.bush and his evil minions scare the crap out of me, for the world, my personal and family life. So I started working for the Kerryites and soon came to believe that he would be a very good man for the job, not just able to beat Mr.bush. 16 yr old son was also busy campaigning, so this was a good thing to both work on. Tues-election day manning (womaning?) the phones, getting more optimistic as the day went on, there was hope, good hope! Wed morning woke to the concessions speech-they fucking did it again! Went to work briefly and had to leave.

I can't say I wan't highly disappointed and hurt and all that because I was. However, I do believe Mr. Kerry is a good and honest politician (as good and honest as they can be) and is really trying to make a positive difference and I have again supported him wholeheartedly and really appreciate the man and everything he stands for and all the people who have rallied around this last yr.

I was the one that had that odd poll last wk in GD about DUers behavior (seeing/hearing Kerry without ranting negatively) as I wanted to see what the vote would be, and try to keep the misunderstanding people on track with my purpose (behavior, not feelings or thoughts). I figured the ones who couldn't restrain themselves would flame me, but wanted to see if others noticed this behavior about themselves. It was my first try at a real poll (vs lounge).

So much for my political doings and thoughts recently. Personally, a 17 yr old (17 tomorow, happy birthday to him and me), several cats and other beasties, husband, sick sense of dark humor, working in health care, spending too much time on DU. I love wordplay. puns, etc and need to go to bed soon rather than writing my long history here for the world to see except I have 10 16-17 yr olds over for movies. Oh well. Thanks for reading the rambling stuff and for welcoming me to the kerryboard part.

8. Welcome!

I thought that poll/thread was very illuminating. I do feel a lot that some people are attacking Kerry habitually based on an irrational, emotional resonse, a grudge they have because on some level they wanted him to be the daddy figure who would fix everything, and he "betrayed" them somehow because he couldn't.

11. I do not understand politics, and don't think he was the daddy figure
I just thought he conceded too soon, would've been better to wait a couple days for the numbers to come through. Though this is one of my dislikes for USA societal values, needing and answer NOW! No, the voters don't need to know asap, they need to know as accurately as possible and let the numbers be totally counted before announcing anything. So what if the media gets its knickers twisted? So what if it is tension provoking, having to wait? BFD! Most other countries need to wait days if not weeks. Stop the exit polling. Stop the early predictions. Let it run its course, let everything be counted, several times if necessary. End of rant :nopity:

13. Hello uppityperson
I would have liked to wait a couple of days too. I do get tired of hearing "well at least Gore fought or _________ would have fought." I do wonder sometimes if he or his family was threatened or something. I remember people like Jesse Jackson went to the media and said how much Kerry's concession "betrayed the trust of the voters." I guess the media would have eaten him alive.

Glad to have you here. :hi:

14. I hope you don't think I meant you!
What I said was directed at people who are still holding a grudge, and rush to blame Kerry for all sorts of things, spinning off their anger.

I'm certainly not going to hold anybody's November emotions against 'em. Lord knows mine weren't pretty.

I completely agree with you on that obsession with declaring a winner NOW. If it's unclear, let it be unclear until it is clear! If that makes any sense. And if it's even remotely close (by "remotely close" I mean none of the candidates are Alan Keyes) no circumstances should the friggin' cable news networks be allowed to call the damn thing before every single vote is counted! Hear hear.

I see that right away. A little bit of Kerrylust doesn't hurt either, but not required. ;)

Welcome!!

9. Welcome!
You're safe from naysayers and anti-Kerry people here. In fact, on the whole this group gives off a very positive vibe and doesn't like to tear people down... We *try* to be fair and constructive if we must criticize a Democrat.

The naysayers aren't supposed to join in... One rule about the individual candidate groups is that in those forums, trashing the person is not allowed. If they do, then let's just say that it doesn't last long. :)

10. That's a good rule
I have whined and bitched and moaned and emoted, but I do get tired of hearing about the hurt feelings whenever the name is mentioned. (give it a break and work on something else people, or at least be aware you are doing it) I don't think it's a daddy's supposed to ride in on a white horse and rescue us thing, at least not for me (responding here to previous post too) but a reaction to a very real and scary let down and striking out in anger at the nearest kick-me object. I don't understand politics, but do know that more goes on than meets the eye, long term and short term.

15. Welcome, Welcome uppityperson
Boy oh boy are you ever going to fit in. Welcome to a Refuge From the Storm.

I agree with you completely on the 'Great Man riding in on a White Horse and Saving us' thing. (I believe that's called fascism.) America was/is a democracy and the people are supposed to be led by a deomcratically elected representative government. Government of, by, and for the people as someone famous and Presidential and tall once said is the way to go.

Love to welcome another Kerrycrat.
