Kerry parking ticket "scandal"
Muckraking at its finest by the :puke: Boston Herald.

$300 paid by the campaign fund for parking tickets issued in the course of campaigning is the best they can do.

Why don't they write about DeLay's $500,000 to his daughters or *'s "dog and pony show expenses? What's that yous say, the Herald is a Murdock rag?

Maybe someone should write a LTTE.

Shocked, I tell you.

The Herald is just pitiful.

2. But unlike Delay, these are serious
Shouldn't he have personally supervised all of his volunteers to make sure they didn't break Boston's laws? Imagine how much trouble Boston would have if everyone broke their parking laws.

Seriously, why is this even reported? I doubt he was even involved in making the decision to pay the fines. If his campaign refused to pay it or looked through records to charge the guilty volunteer, it would be a story. headline: Kerry's campaign pays a legitimate bill.

I now understand what you MA people are saying - If they're calling him on this, I can see why the Republicans really couldn't find anything.

3. Hehe. But didn't Momma T have a similar scandal with
parking near a hydrant?

5. Yeah, but that was a long time ago
That was back when they were having the Beacon Hill digs renovated. She kept getting ticketed for parking near a hydrant. The Herald, bless their muckracking little hearts, broke the Page One news that Momma T was a (Oh my gawd, I can barely get the words out) parking scofflaw. (I apologize for using such rough language where children might read it. I am indeed a micreant of the lowest order.)

The Herald waited and waited for the good citizens of Boston to find their pitchforks and ascend Beacon Hill and demand that she, ahm, find a legal parking spot. But pitchforks are in short supply in downtown Boston, there was a sale at Filene's, the lattes were flowing at Starbucks and well, the citizenry just never got around to it. And Mrs. Heinz Kerry, in a positive snit of Herald-baffling derring-do, paid to have the hydrant moved. Oh, she is a tricky one.

Alas and alack, the Herald is still searching for that elusive Pulitzer. They tried again this year when they took a picture of a chair holding a parking spot for Sen. Kerry's car on Beacon Hill, so there is always hope for next year. (You're not supposed to put things out to save shoveled out spots anymore. Can you imagine the infernal gaul of Sen. Kerry, acting just like any other citizen of Boston and trying to save a space.)

Ahm, Psst, Herald guys. I got a scoop for ya. The Senator drives too fast sometimes. Mabye yuhz could find a radar gun and a copy of his schedule and catch him going 70 in a 55 mile an hour zone. Of course, this being Massachusetts and all, that might make him the slowest car on the raod. But still, I smell a Pulitizer. Release the reporting dogs of war.

8. Let me find the official dictionary entry
From: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=scofflaw

scofflaw

n : one who habitually ignores the law and does not answer court summonses

Honestly, if that doesn't sound like a hardened criminal, well, I just don't know what does.

You should put it in a letter to the editor and send it to the The Globe.

7. Damn!
In Chicago, smart people include parking tickets in their monthly budgets. It's just another toll. Everybody's got to pay some sooner or later.

Hell, even getting busted for not paying 'em isn't much of a scandal round here, unless you've racked up the GDP of a small country or something (which is not all that difficult to do).

12. Oh, for fuck's sake.
Pardon me, but this is bullshit. Are people writing LTTEs? Good, they should. With lots of capital letters. Goddamn.
