Shifting the SSI fight to Senate Finance Committee
There was an article in the WaPo on Sunday about how * is trying to dump his failed Social Security destruction plan into the Senate Finance Committee. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59518-2005Apr16.html

Keep your eyes on the prize on this one. The Rethugs are masters of snatching a victory from the jaws of humiliating defeat and I am very wary of what the Rethugs on the FinComm will do.

These are the members of the Subcommittee on Social Security and Family Policy:

Rick Santorum, PA, Chairman (Editorial comment: ACK!)
Kent Conrad, ND, Ranking Member

Republicans
Charles E. Grassley, IA
Jim Bunning, KY
Bill Frist, TN
Trent Lott, MS
Jon Kyl, AZ
Gordon Smith, OR
Mike Crapo, ID

Democrats
John D. Rockefeller IV, WV
James M. Jeffords, VT
Jeff Bingaman, NM
John F. Kerry, MA
Blanche L. Lincoln, AR

This fight is far from over and what happens in this committee in the months ahead could make or break the Rethug plans to destroy SSI. Stay tuned. I will post any and all notices I find about when these hearings are going on and where you can tune in and watch/listen.

TayTay, the ever vigilant and fearful

7. That was a direct steal, ah, copy from the web site
for the Senate Finance Committee. They list him in the Dem column. (And we are happy to have that good and brave man caucus with us.)

9. I don't always agree with him, but he's got principles
And he won't sell out.

That makes him damn admirable in my book.
