1. Excellent find, TayTay!

Thanks for making me smile first thing Sunday morning!

On edit: to return the favor I offer this blog post by my friend Shaun at Upper Left. (scroll down to "Diane beat me to the punch... ") This made me smile yesterday!

4. That was a smile inducer!!
Thanks for the link. Rational thought in a time when emotion is holding sway over too many democrats!

5. Oh, I'm so glad you liked it.
Shaun is great. Upper Left is one of the blogs I visit every day. No matter how impassioned he gets about a subject, he's always rational. He's a Vietnam vet and a big Kerry supporter, but one without blinders, which makes his opinions valuable to me.

6. I've pretty much given up Kos - this looks like a viable replacement!
There's more good stuff out there than I realized. My new resolution is stay focused on the positive. I'll have to bookmark this site.

7. I'm trying to do that too.
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 02:40 PM by whometense
I hadn't gone to Kos for weeks, went there once last week, and was shocked at how much I objected to the tone of Kos's posts. The self-righteousness. The divisive attitude towards other dems. I can't bring myself to post there any more. I don't want to have my voice under his umbrella.

But there are others out there that are great. I love Salon, and read The Carpetbagger Report every day. He's my own personal daily op-ed page. Again, someone else who is always incisive and rational.

I had given up Salon - I forget what it was now but I got pissed at them right before the election. Posted something about Kerry that I found highly objectionable - well I guess it's time to wade back in!

9. They have a few writers
who were NOT pro-Kerry, and they pissed me off too. But I have a paid subscription, so I keep going back. Their War Room has good news items, and I love Joe Conason and Sidney Blumenthal. It's uneven, but sometimes they'll have a piece that is so good you forgive them for the garbage. This one (http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2005/03/08/night_flights/index.html) last week about the hiding of the soldiers dead and wounded in Iraq was great.

12. Whome, this is a great site
I have added it to my favs. His comments on Kerry '08 are wonderful and really made my day. Thanks! It's so nice to read something so positive and forward looking. We all need antidotes to the DU threads from time to time and I liked this a lot.

2. Good for JK!
But something needs to be done about the Dems that got a score of zero. What's up with that?

Despite the snow and cold weather outside, seeing things like this makes me want to keep on living in MA for the rest of my life.

3. I agree with that
Teddy K had a 100% rating. JK will probably sponsor or at least vote for that other bill protecting privacy when it comes up. (His only strike at that place.) The whole support for the Patriot Act thing goes back to his time in the DA's office as a Prosecutor. (Cue the argument over civil liberties versus effectively tracking terrorists, one that Richard Clarke still struggles with. It is an ongoing argument as it should be.)

I checked out the House delegation and MA did pretty well there as well. I was surprised that Steven Lynch had such a high rating. I always thought of him as sort of a mod/conservative. I guess he is, but mod/conservative means one thing in MA and another in Texas. (LOL!)

There were about 5 or 6 Dems who got 0 progressive scores in this chart. That was surprising. Why are they Dems if they never vote Democratic?

10. Thank you! That is good!
But I think Sarbanes is More liberal than Mikulski, but Sarbanes is rated less progressive. I guess progressive doesn't equal liberal. Nice to see someone besides the Friends of Hillary say something nice about Hillary Clinton.

He used to be liberal when he was a freshman and naive and hadn't been brain-drained by the Dem leadership. (And his ADA rating was 89.) But now, oh now, after 3 2/6 of a term in the Senate, well now he is a near Repub with an ADA rating of 92. (If that sentence makes sense to you, you might be a lefty freeper.)

Kerry has a more liberal record after 1990 than before 1990? Wow!

18. Sen. Kerry has yet to condone
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 05:33 PM by TayTay
a bill that will forbid the government to peek into people's bookbag receipts and library check out records and such. It is possible that he was busy what with the KidsComeFirst Act and the Committee hearings and the Awards at the JFK library and stuff and simply hasn't gotten around to it yet. (It sounds like something he would sign on to.)

I believe the Sen has been a tad busy lately, so I will cut him some slack on this. (Gov Dean would have been perfect, if he was a Senator and if he wasn't DNC Chair and if he wasn't a moderate. Right? Damn that Kerry, only getting a rating of Extraordinarily Progressive. He should have gone for the Super-Duper-Califragilisticly-Stupendously Progressive. Slackard.)

21. He introduced legislation
To repeal some of that stuff. I don't know if he's going to introduce it again, but I know he did in 2003 or 4, not sure which. Don't know if that web site considered that legislation or not.

22. Extraordinarily Progressive
Ahm, that was the highest rating they had. I think they were showing some love for Sen. Kerry. There were some other Dems (or DINO's, not sure) who were not progressive at all. Why are they Dems? (For the frequent flyer miles? The great signup tote bag and matching hand towel? What is it?)

Okay, that now exceeds my DINO posts for the month. I don't generally like to dump on other folks Dem Snators. (sniff, I am a bit spoiled in that regard, she said in a totally insufferable voice that made others want to whack her with a big broom.)

23. The zeros weren't particularly fair
I don't think it's fair to put a Dem who votes Dem even 50% of the time in the same category as Trent Lott. It would have been helpful to have a further breakdown when they got to the bottom of the list I think.

24. I think that list is a work in progress
I noticed they put a house rep in the NH 9th district. Ahm, NH has only two Reps. (Thank Gawd for that. Until NH repents of constantly electing rethugs to national office, I wouldn't trust them with more than 2 reps anyway.)

This is the preliminary list. It will get better. And it is only based on 109th (weasel) Congress votes.

would have been refreshing to have him in the WH. In 2008 might be another chance for us.
