JK birthday plans?
Are we doing card this year? Any chance of a party?
He turns 65. A big one. And he's even talked about it publicly on TV. . .

1. A trip to DC for the inauguration instead?
When Karen posed this, the idea felt so full circle from where we came, how we met. So much of the Obama/Biden win was unheralded support from Kerry on the ideas for platform, public financing, pick of Joe Biden, the planning of Obama's mideast trip (why else would JK be pictured bopping around Jerusalem just prior), great surrogate help, the access to the email list, and so much more.

Financially, I could barely do one trip, but if more of you are in Boston, I could still do that. There is just so much to celebrate as a family, all-around. I haven't been here much, concentrating on election reform and Obama. Still, always with you and JK in spirit.

Yes, there were flipped votes, the suppression, purged names, but that made the decisive win all the more miraculous. We all know the resons why Obama deserved to win, but since many elections will not this momentous, we need a reliable system on which to vote. Also the political will for fairness. (Note: there has been fraud from the beginning of time, so we just have to manage the percentages better.)

Hello and congratulations to all of us. I am so, finally, proud of this country.

2. Birthday is different
Not that anyone is asking for a vote on it, but I'd hope to be doing something centered on JK rather than Obama. Even though I'm very, very happy that Obama won, I'm a Kerry supporter first and foremost.

3. I won't be able to come in December. It just won't be possible.
I am not sure about Inauguration Day. I am quite far away from DC now.

5. You guys do a birthday card here? I've sent him one every year
but missed last year.

I'd love to be included if it's a group card. If not, he'll get his usual from me. :)

7. Protect our Future, Welcome to DU JK
Nice to have you here!

We WILL have something for the good Senator and it WILL get on his desk.

It is a little late for physical birthday cards, so, we need to think of something else that shows the support we have always given.

Suggestins? Videos? Songs? Let me know.

8. Something that acknowledges his contribution
That lets him know that we know how much he has done in the last 4 years. I don't know what exactly, but he really needs to know that a couple of people out here appreciate what he's done.

9. Yup
Rock solid guarantee on that.

Besides he would miss and ask about it, so I better be able to say I got something.

10. Ity might not be too late - if we do it differently
One idea would be for everyone to write something little, maybe even on a colorful background and sign it - maybe on a certain size square - then mail them to someone, who could paste them together then maybe ? copy it if that works better than the original. (The stamps/postmarks would still be there.

(If this is a really stupid idea - my excuse? it is 1:06.)

13. since I'm near Boston, I'd be happy to help with that , or even just do it
(maybe some of us Boston-ites could have a little get-together to do this -- a pasting bee instead of a quilting bee???)

Another idea would be for us to mail individual cards to Terry for her to bundle

14. I thought of that, too!
That we could have a card construction party! Though I like "bee" better.

15. Absolutely I would bundle or deliver cards
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 09:07 AM by TayTay
This is a terrific idea. (I knew we would come up with something wonderful!)

I would be most happy to assemble something or collect cards.

Perhaps a vote on what we want to do would be in order. Cards and such should be in the mail by Nov 30th in order to make sure we get them on time.
