John Kerry easily wins re-election to the US Senate
for a fifth term.

Just thought people might want to know, lol. No numbers in yet, but this was hardly a difficult call.

2. Press release: KERRY: I AM HUMBLED BY MASSACHUSETTS VOTERS’ FAITH IN ME
BOSTON- Senator John Kerry released the following statement tonight after winning election to his fifth term in the United States Senate.

"I am humbled to receive the support of voters from Williamstown to Provincetown and every city and town in between, and I promise to continue to prove worthy of your confidence in me over the next six years.

"Yes, we have challenges to tackle in this country and in Massachusetts. But the American people's remarkable reservoir of talent, innovation, resolve and selflessness has triumphed time and time again. Our history is one of not just overcoming challenges but of emerging from difficult times stronger and better prepared to prosper as a nation.

“I have always been honored to represent the people of Massachusetts and I can't wait to return to Washington with my friend Ted Kennedy by my side and continue to deliver for you and your families. I promise to continue the fight to win back our future and honor your faith in me.”

5. Now the question is whether he keeps that job.
It seems to me that Obama will announce cabinet positions like SoS very soon. Although Kerry's re-election was never in doubt, it has been complete suspense as to whether he would remain a very powerful Senator or go to Obama's cabinet. Soon we will know. I am fine with either choice.

6. I want him to stay in the Senate, but
fortunately JK isn't asking his bloggers to vote on what he should do. :)

8. Awe...
...he's not ? :7 Darn. :) If I were to guess...I'd say he'll take a cabinet position if offered. Otherwise, he'll do a 'bang-up' job in the Senate.

9. Let be sure that "some" Democrats, or some people at least, will do whatever is possible
to make sure it does not happen. Whether he gets it or not, the idea that somebody would say that he is actively seeking it (whoever these unnamed Democrats are), does not come from somebody who is friendly to Kerry. Some things never change.

Several Democrats also said Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry was actively seeking appointment as secretary of State in the new administration.
