Painful!
Another reason that Bush/Rove's use of churches was so valuable in 2004 and if these stats existed today, JK would have been in office.

1. It is heartbreaking and very painful to see the changes in opinions and attitudes since 2004.
I see nothing wrong with could haves and should haves, it proves to me that it wasn't the messenger that was wrong, it was those receiving the message. Many have since woke up and realized the mistakes of 2004.

2. This is the bright side that came out of "Wrightgate"
Once conservatives saw a different political point of view being displayed at a church, it finally occurred to them that hey -- maybe this isn't a good idea.

I am quite secular and think politics should stay out of the church. Other than in personal conversations.

3. lots of religious people also believe strongly that politics --
-- especially PARTISAN politics --should stay of the church. It's a founding principle of our country, though many people seem to have forgotten
