Kerry, Obama and religion - My opinion about what Obama should do. (aka the Smartest move)
Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 01:32 PM by blm
Obama needs to sit down with the transcript and video of Kerry's speech at Pepperdine and craft a similar message for his own speech to the COUNTRY about religion and politics.

I hope this can be forwarded.

1. I think, actually, that Obama is doing well. Check out this diary:

Obama made a great decision by going to the Chicago papers and allowing them to grill him about Rezko for over 90 minutes. I think that will do a lot to defuse the issue. Just a hunch, but it reminded me of when Kerry agreed to be grilled by journalists about his Iraq War vote.

Oh, and this seems up your alley, BLM:

2. That move reminded me of Kerry's sitdown, too.
People forget anout all those smart moves of Kerry's as they focus on the media created BS.

I am glad that the secrecy is becoming an issue. Obviously I think it will be the most attractive aspect of a Dem campaign, especially attractive to Independents.

3. this is good
Bringing up a new subject for the media to cover is a very smart way to get them off the subject of Wright. They (the media) have had their fun for a few days now, and are ready for a new topic on a Monday morning. Giving them a juicy one is a smart move.

The media should be treated like another opponent--or at least be respected as s formidable obstacle that has to be considered in the mix. He can't just assume that they are going to be fair--we have too much recent history showing the opposite. Another lesson learned from the Kerry Campaign.
