The Kerry Phenomon
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 10:50 AM by politicasista
It's weird but predictible.

1. Kerry does something positive, a day later the roaches come out of the woodwork.

2. Kerry makes negative press, the roaches come out of the woodwork, (sometimes positive, some not).

3. Kerry does something symbolic (i.e. filabustering Alito), everybody's happy again.

4. Any anti-Kerry thread, adds up to multiple threads and 100+ replies (sometimes with the same distortions and drivel over and over again).

5. Any pro-Kerry thread talking about Kerry-sponsored (or co-sponsored) legislation, or legislation passed sometimes drops like a rock or gets a few replies.

6. When you post the facts, ask a question or ask for a link, you (sometimes) get crickets.

I have come to a conclusion, either people want Kerry to fade out (cause he still may be a threat) or maybe it's other occurances (afraid maybe?).

Yep. The Kerry Phenomon is weird (And he isn't even a candidate for president).

Goes to grab umbrella to weather the sh!tstorm. :hide:

Edit: Thank goodness the blogosphere isn't the real world.

1. you'll get no argument from me.
I sometimes wonder why I keep hanging out at DU, given their general Kerry hatred. It's this forum and all the great friends and comments here that keeps me coming back. For the rest of DU, I read but rarely respond with any strong opinions. I just insert a fact here or there, and then let it go. It doesn't pay to get very emotionally invested.

2. I keep asking the same thing
Why do I keep coming back and hanging out in GD/GDP?, especially with all the Kerry hatred, and the sometimes bashing, lionization (and demonetization) of good Democrats.

I take breaks, but it is this group I read a lot of because it's very sound opinion-wise.

3. Most people hate to deal with someone they can't categorize
John Kerry is someone who is very antagonistic in the eyes of most people and they can't put him in any category:

- He is part of the establishment but in reality he is and has always been an outsider in Washington
- He is a politician but is honest and doesn't lie
- He ran for president but mainly not for his ambitions but to serve his country
- He is a war hero who volunteered but is no war monger and he fights for peace
- He is rich but has no disdain for the middle class or poor people (on the contrary he has a big heart)

I'm sure you guys can come up with many more examples why Kerry doesn't fit in a corner and is an amazing individual. He is nothing "typical" and that makes people nervous because they don't "get" him and aren't able to judge him.

6. Thanks, MBS :-)
It's nice to hear from you again as well. I did check in here from time to time but didn't really post. It was a shame that we couldn't meet in Boston last December. I would have loved so see you all again. Maybe next time...

5. You are right on!
Kerry actually believes in service and takes risks for what he believes in.

People just don't get that!! It's a foreign concept to them!

So they can't see him. And I also think that after all the hopes in 2004, we are blaming the guy who took it in the chin instead of building on what he started and making it stronger. That is SO DUMB!!!
