Why we need to get out of Iraq and end this madness

The damage from this war is going to last generations. We went in to Iraq without the proper plan, equipment or personnel. We are in there now without a real plan, equipment, training or personnel. There are consequences.

We have to get out of that place. We have to do this for a host of reasons, not the least of which is to save what is left of our own souls.

It is immoral for old men to send young Americans to fight and die in a conflict without a strategy that can work -- on a mission that has not weakened terrorism but worsened it.

It is immoral to lie about progress in that war to get through a news cycle or an election.

"Staying the course" isn't far-sighted; it's blind. Leaving our troops in the middle of a civil war isn't resolute; it's reckless. Half of the service members listed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall died after America's leaders knew our strategy would not work. It was immoral then and it would be immoral now to engage in the same delusion."

Democrats UNLESS they get all troops out -- and I mean ALL TROOPS -- by tomorrow morning. If there are TWO SOLDIERS guarding our embassy there? Well, kick those damned war mongers out of the party quick fast in a hurry.

I realize your post is very serious, as was your link, but silly lefties and self important purist bloggers are drawing the lines of battle as we speak, and apparently the Holy One is now . . . Bill Richardson (hmmm . . . wonder how he'll flesh out his remarks when he goes on the Sunday programs).

3. my vote is going to the one I most believe will end it.

That's the main hope I have when we get a Dem president--that they will end this war. But this is what got Nixon elected in a landslide after Johnson--the same kind of promise--and it wasn't exactly kept, was it. So we have to choose carefully. Truthfulness and trust are of supreme importance.

All the other issues are secondary and the differences won't matter as much--as long as they are a Dem it will be an improvement over today's domestic policies.
