Kerry hopes to decide on presidential bid by month's end

WASHINGTON --Sen. John Kerry hopes to decide by the end of the month whether he'll run for president again in 2008.

"I'm going to make a decision," Kerry, D-Mass., said during a brief interview with The Associated Press outside the Senate chamber on Thursday. "I'm not going to drag it out. But I need to finish the process, which I will."

Kerry's goal is to announce his campaign plans by the end of the month, a Kerry spokesman said Thursday.

However, asked if he had a firm timetable for making up his mind on a second White House bid, Kerry would only say: "Nope."

Kerry has recently hired several politically experienced aides for his Senate office and political action committee.
