2. Power of the press
It's absolutely stunning he did as well as he did when the press was in a complete love-fest with Bush in 2004. They've just slaughtered him and the Democratic Party stood back and watched it happen, in some cases, cheered it on. *sigh*

5. When MSNBC hails the "Kerry Plan"
And tells the truth about his position on the war, going all the way back to Oct 2002, along with clips of Bush saying that the IWR was not a vote for war - then I'll believe we're really back to realty-based reporting. I think the 'botched joke' shows that we're not as close to that as we'd like to have believed.

Matthews went on another one of his rants about Dems not wanting to take responsibility for setting policy - the mommy party back seat driver - was his comparison. Not only was it absolutely stunning when it's been Dems that have introduced alternative agendas in the Congress, and led the fight to change course - it's insulting to women to act as if we don't take responsibility for our families and lives in the first place. And that gigglng Jenny Backus - ugh - she should have stopped him in his tracks and given him the kind of tongue lashing that only 'mommys' can give.

6. The media is pathetic and incurable -- they need to be hit
where it hurts -- their pocketbook -- before they even think of changing. Good news is that the people voted Dem in November even after they were bashed for years. The MSM is decent when it comes to reporting incidents and facts. But political reporting is just godawful -- it's all gossipy Tabloidy crap. And I can't even convince my own mother that they're full of shit.

4. What a RIDICULOUS article!! At least Sully (who I got the original
link from) talked about Guiliani and Obama (maybe he feared another e-mail from me, and decided to skip the Kerry bashing). This is utter bullshit!!!!!!!!!! He's probably the most likeable person IN REAL LIFE of the entire list. The media has just completely gone overboard -- they've jumped the shark on this -- they've become too obvious. Why are they doing this? If he's so "dead" why do they keep kicking him -- MAKE SURE HE'S DEAD. Well to hell with the lot of them.

I voted. Let's keep this thing kicked to bring his numbers up.

7. I thought it was a nasty and un call for article. They are rubbing salt
into a wound so to speak. Obviously, there is more going on here and in the MSM than what we know about. You are correct, this is overkill and you just have to wonder why. If he is so unpopular and doesn't have a chance in hell of getting out of the primaries, it's a wonder why there is a need to continue this nasty smear game.

8. It really has gone over the top
Fortunately this non-story seems to be dying a quick death. Maybe they realized that it would not be helpful to try to sell Kerry as the "least popular politician in America" according to a bullshit number in a bullshit poll that clearly over-weights the Republican percentage of the population.

Something to consider regarding the methodology of the poll.

If 20 people are polled, and all 20 of them give Kerry a rating of 60, his average is, of course, 60.

If the same people are polled, and 10 of them give someone (let's say Bush) 100 while the other 10 give him a 30, his average will be 65.

According to the poll's methodology, Bush would have a higher warmth rating because of the freeping by his supporters. But Kerry would be more consistently well regarded.

This type of poll is extremely vulnerable to skewing. Many liberals and Democrats would be OK with giving a rating of 30-40, or 60-70, but they don't necessarily want to give a REALLY low or REALLY high rating. The numbers back this up. Democrats' numbers among Democrats have a wide spread but not too much on the extreme ends, whereas the right-wingers skew the polls with their answers, on each end of the scale.

The straight approve/disapprove polls are much more useful.
