I get the feeling the U.S. is training some of the very people who are fighting them. They train the Iraqi troops, who then go AWOL, weapons go missing and there is no end in sight!

1. I think you are correct and this has been going on for some time.

It would explain why after three years, there are still not enough Iraq forces trained enough to take over protecting the country.

while I don't doubt Iran's influence, what the article described seems to be the Iraqi insurgency!

If the U.S. can't train and retain Iraqi forces, is afraid to arm them, what exactly can they ever expect to accomplish? Now add civil war to that formula, and the question is why the hell are people kidding themselves about setting a timetable for withdrawal?
