Poll question: Semi-Annual
What region of the country are you from? Just curious, none of this info will be forwarded to anyone.

If you don't know where you are from, ah, well, my knowledge of geography is awful too! Just post here, cuz some of the categories are used on the news all the time and I don't know what they mean either. (Seriously, why do some States get to be the Heartland? That is a cool name. What does that make New England: the Foreheadland? What does that make California? What about Florida, is that the South? I heard about half of it is? What would you put it down as?)

We needed a poll. This was what I had. Use it or not.

OK, juvenile, but you're the one who started with the body parts.

2. I said nothing to do with a body part and Florida
Edited on Thu Sep-14-06 08:47 PM by TayTay
I said Heartland and couldn't remember exactly what States were the heartland of America. (Then, because I feared pissing off people who live in the heartland, I made fun of my own region of the country and called it the utterly boring Forehead of America.)

Ahm, Florida has Disney-World, which means it is the "Happiest Place on Earth" of America, right?

Geez, GV, I would never suggest, ahm, outright, that I thought Florida was anything other than then, ahm, Lower-Ankle region of America. (Okay, who makes up these designations. It's damn hard to get a geography poll going when no one knows what the nicknames mean. And why, oh why, can't I post a poll without getting bad comments. The What sex are you poll last year was a disaster as people answered yes. )

5. Hahahahahaha!
Except, he's have to get federal funding for that, and it's abstinence only. Florida will just have to learn not to fool around and to wait until after Hurricane season is over.

hahahahahahahahaha!

I would consider myself to be in the heartland. Wikipedia says west of the missisippi river, east of the rockies.

7. Well, Wisconsin thinks it's in the Heartland, too--most of it anyway.
It's more of a state of mind or culture than any area. Technically, there is the Rust Belt which runs into the Great Plains. Heartland is more of a state of mind (?) where supposedly we're all conservatives who go to church and vote for *.

Hah! Try Madison, WI on for size! (aka Mad-Town). Actually any college town around here is going to be liberal. And then there are moles like me who live in the 'burbs but are true blue. And if we are all so conservative, why do Russ Feingold and David Obey win all the time?

8. The Rust Belt???
Illinois???

We are the Midwest, thankyouverymuch, or if you insist on breaking the Midwest down into smaller globs, then the Upper Midwest or the Great Lakes States. Rust Belt????

12. I apologize for that.
I couldn't remember what the supposed 'Rust Belt' was and if I was in it or not. (There is an argument either way.) I think it had something to do with a region formerly known for manufacturing jobs that no longer has so many of those jobs available. (Or maybe it's the weather.)

Hmmm, we need a better poll based on States.

16. You Duchesses of New England... humph
Hmph, you think just because you are a Grand Duchess of the Ye Olde Commonwealth of Massachusetts that you can just daintily sip tea and eat scones and mislabel other (lesser) regions of the country? Well I say BAH to that!

:D :P

Us Grand Duchesses of Massiness are reserved and far too aloof to notice that we have slighted other regions of the country. (We are rather self-involved you know and barely ever take our eyes off of our lovely selves in our mirrors.)

No doubt, the preponderance of tea and scone shops in Ye Old Boston (Whatever Isn't an Irish Bar) Establishments that you passed in your noble stay in the Fair City of Bawston have convinced you of our daintiness. (If ever there was a word to be associated with me, it's dainty, right?)

18. I see you more as
timid shrinking violets who coyly demure from any opportunity to dramatize, promote or promulgate the (great and glorious) Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
But whatever.

13. You're right, it would be terrible
if someone posted a photo of JK in his Florida suit

or of him talking to a victim of Hurricane Charly.

14. I love that suit, but the second photo says a lot.
The connection between two people, one looking for comfort and the other looking to give it. What a President he would be! There is so much compassion and so much strength evident in that image, it's stunning (to borrow a favorite word).

15. I agree totally. It is stunning.
The second photograph speaks volumes. You can tell that in that one brief moment, a genuine connection was made between two human beings. There is just no comparison between that one photograph, and ANY of the photo-op photographs that we've seen of * over the past 6 years.
