Anyone have experience with 'Chinking' a log structure?
We're currently up here on Vancouver Island, in our 1973, home built log cabin. We've owned the property for 10 years, but our jobs meant we spent very little time here until we retired a couple of years ago. Each time we come we try to do one project, and this time it's 'chinking'.

The inside was never 'chinked', just stuffed with oakum - a look I never liked - and the place is so drafty! So, I'm starting with the inside and a small room that I use as a 'hobby' room - so my novice mistakes will not be seen by others. I have the 'Permachink' (bloody expensive stuff!), backer rods, bulk loading gun/nozzles, follow plate and assorted spatulas - I'm ready! Anyone got any helpful tips before I squeeze my first 'bead'?

The outside will need renewing too but it's too wet/cold to start that project. We also have to remove the brown paint that previous owners coated the whole outside with before we can think about doing that :banghead:
