29. it said "Sofie is in the Omega"
Ruthie...seeing the message written on her mirror: "Sofie is in the Omega," it says. The note is signed "L." http://www.hbo.com/carnivale/episode/season2/episode21.shtml

I think Omega means Ben's destination, Midtern.

6. Keep in mind, the Democratic party was about to rip apart.
When Truman ordered the desegregation of the army, the Dixiecrats finally had enough. The Democrats weren't always the progressive liberal party.

8. I Wonder What Iris's Game Is?
From a previous show, we saw Justin's vision of Iris betraying him.

And now there was her little confession to Norman, just after having killed Eleanor for reaching the same conclusion as Norman.

Is she intent on uncloaking Justin because he her to believe she'd be sacrificed? Or is she a truly devout woman who had no idea what she was awakening in him when she torched the orphanage? Or, did she know, and had a long-range plan anyway?

10. That confused me too.
Is it a game with Norman? Another way to silence him? But yes, Justin's vision of her (*ouch*). That's something to keep in mind.

We could find out that Sofie is the partner in crime with Justin, and Iris helps Ben.

What a horrible scene with Jonesy. But how cool was it when even his bum leg got healed!

I was wondering why he tore his pant leg open. I guess I just didn't make the connection. That is very cool. And, a well done, if gruesome and horrible, scene of tar and feathering.

12. When they were mixing the tar
I switched channels for about two minutes. Came back to another scene, and by the looks of him later, I'm glad I did.

I figured the knee would be healed in the process. That was a good scene. I thought right then..."Ben has mad an ally and friend for life." From the looks of the previews, I think that is true.

It was a horrible scene. DeKay did an awesome bit of acting, though. As far as I'm concerned, everyone in this show should get some kind of award. I don't know that I've ever seen such great acting on TV before.

17. I was afraid of that, it held back my joy a little at Jonesy's celebration
But part of me felt like, they wouldn't take us so low with Jonesy's torture, then takes us so high with the healing, only to drive us off a clift with something bad happening to Libby.

Besides, I think she's going to have a rough time when she gets back to camp, unable to explain what happened.

19. She Won't Have to Explain What No One Knows
That is, the tar & feather incident. They can say the townsfolk brought them out into the middle of nowhere. Although, people may wonder why she's all sunburned & Jonesy isn't.

And the knee.

I don't know what they'll say, but if nothing else, I think Nancy's right: Ben has a new disciple.

Do spoilers like this if you aren't sure

there's text between these two sentences, in white. highlight and read. theoretically we could do spoilers that way and *no one* could complain.

And we do see Samson telling Libby not to tell anybody what she saw.

So, Ben's up to 4 disciples now: 1. Gabriel, 2. Samson, 3/4. Jonesy/Libby.

Bro. Justin's up to 17,000, or thereabouts. Oy, vey.

30. Don't forget Ruthie & Apollonia
Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 06:05 PM by Mabus
Ruthie's shown a lot of loyalty to Ben (even though he rejects her) after he saved Gabe's life. She also credits Ben with saving her life after she was bit by the snake.

Apollonia is still "in play" so to speak but because she's dead she's probably more of a "guide" like Management than a disciple. She's appeared to Sophie and Apollonia was always interested in Ben while she was alive, I don't think she's changed since then.

I could almost add Lodz to Ben's list because he's been trying to give clues about what's going on. I don't see his possessing Ruthie to be something destructive or evil. He hasn't tried to kill her or put her into harm's way, rather he has been trying to communicate information that might actually be useful.

There's also a big difference between Ben's followers and Justin's followers although both sets of followers are the same type - society's rejects. Ben inspires loyalty and devotion from people because of what he does. Justin has loyalty and devotion from people (with the exception of Iris) because of what he says.

32. Hmm
I doubt Lodz is on Ben's side. I dunno, though, could be.

Sophie, I'm not sure of. Just not sure where she's headed.

Here's a thought: If Scudder's her father, then the baby is the result of incest. Ick. If Justin's her father, then the baby is the bringing together of the two houses.

34. I'm thinking back to the time Ben & Lodz
Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 02:09 AM by Mabus
spent together in the dust storm. Lodz was trying to be Ben's friend and mentor by talking to Ben about how he could help Ben understand his powers. Yes, it was also an attempt by Lodz to get back in good with Management. My conclusion is that Lodz had a lot more to gain from being good to Ben rather than going against him, especially if he wanted to curry favor with Management. Granted Lodz has no love for Scudder but at least with Ben alive & well Lodz had a better chance at getting at Scudder.

Sophie hasn't come to grips with the fact that it was her and not her mom Apollonia that was reading the cards. With that said, I agree with your assessment that the baby will bring together the two houses because I've thought that Sophie's dad was Management because of Apollonia was raped by someone with the Tree tatoo. Management had one. This, of course, would mean that Sophie is related to Iris and Justin as their half-sister and if she is carrying Ben's child then it would bring the two houses together.

http://www.hbo.com/carnivale/ reprinted below, lazarus take note of the highlighted snippet, it may fit my theory about Sophie's parentage.

Spoiler?
it is on the hbo website so if you don't want to know the teaser for Sunday, don't read.

Libby struggles to stick to her alibi, buckling under the weight of Rita Sue's superiority; Jones goes for a ride with Ben; Ruthie delivers a nocturnal message to Lila; Talbot-Smith intercepts a near disaster for Justin and reneges on a deal with Scudder; Iris discovers a relative; Stroud increases security with his "Knights of Jericho," and Justin does some backseat driving. Don't miss the all new episode "Cheyenne, WY", Sunday, March 13th at 10PM ET.

23. Yea, I'm so use to Ben
discounting his powers I tend to forget he can do all these things. I also am NOT counting out Scudder. I think he is being patient, leading Ben to the Preacher via Stroud and has elected to be passive. I think when they are all together, that he will unload!

27. OTOH
Remember that Scudder has "taken himself out" of the game, so his power may be diminished.

Although I am curious; the reputation of Scudder doesn't match very well with the reality of Scudder at all, does it? Scudder may well be waiting for something.
