Was Farscape all that bad???
Edited on Sun Dec-21-08 06:40 AM by AsahinaKimi

My girlfriend got me interested in this series and I know its not even on anymore, but I found a few websites that have old episodes, and I don't think it was all that bad. Two of the actors ended up
on Stargate SG-1...

But I guess it was a bit obscure. Not alot of fans for the program..and If It hadn't been for my
girlfriend being nuts about Chiana, I probably would have never known about it.

1. All that bad?

It one of my favorites. Definitely one of the better quality SF TV fare.

Once I 'discovered' it for myself I was hooked, the characters and plot themes were great fun and interesting.

And they even seemed to try to give the science at least some thought, although so much of what happened seemed bordering on 'fantasy' realm they strove for a balance between mysterious and explainable to allow the audience to suspend disbelief in a way to keep your mind open for fun. And they did a fair job of being technically consistent I think.

4. It was okay.
Design-wise, it was innovative. The scripts, however, were corny in the extreme, and suspension of disbelief, despite the fine production values, makeup, puppetry, etc., was hard to come by.

Special note: the blue gal in the series (Aussie actress Virginia Hey) was also the warrior woman in The Road Warrior.

5. Farscape was a wonderful show
Space opera at its best. Sure, the plots were corny but that was all part of the fun. Additionally, the universe and characters were fleshed out enough that there was a lot of meat to sink your teeth into but like Stargate SG-1 it didn't take itself too seriously. The characters were all flawed yet lovable, each in their own way. And while it was more of a fantasy, the science was at least believable enough that the viewer could easily suspend disbelief. Finally, the concept of a biological ship with a symbiotic pilot, a plant-based woman and a non-humanoid character was, albeit not original in science fiction, innovative for TV. We could do worse, and SciFi channel certainly has, than Farscape.

7. Farscape was AWESOME!!!
It was a great series. Probably my favorite ever. I loved the animatronic characters that were so real-to-life. Besides, where else can you see a two-foot high puppet with exploding pee having sex with another two-foot-high puppet?

May I add that Ben Browder is absolutely HOT in leather?
